NO. ive been super busy on my off days. and every spare dollar I get seems to go to my house or my kids medical bills. since the transmission went out in the Formula the only thing automotive ive done to my own cars has been getting my 92 "trans am" running and firing on all cylinders

oldpalerider,
Your car is the bottom one in this photo. I used to own it and sold it to someone in Texas around a year ago, maybe a bit longer. I bought it from someone in Illinois, but it was previously a Minnesota car. The top one is the hardtop that Bruce Hawkins used to own that got from him about 4 years ago and now it has a new owner in Arizona.

Very cool, learn something new on here everyday. I've been wondering what everyone's thoughts are on re-painting these pony's. back to original color of course. Lets say you have a decent paint job, the original one. Of course it has its flaws from sitting over the years, and quite honestly, never was that good coming out of the factory. Should you re-paint, using modern paint materials? Is this a sin? Or leave it as is, and let 1992 GM shine in all her glory, including, all her mistakes?

I struggle with that on my 89 Convertible... Right now it has original paint except for the Left rear quarter, to which I cannot figure out for the life of me why it was repainted, there is no evidence of an accident. The car was a FL car and the top of the car is just baked... Clear coming off... but right now it is virtually all original...

This is the only situation where we have decided that an older collectible should be refinished to look better than new. Art, antique furniture, guns & coins are all left in untouched, as-aged condition to maintain their highest value.
I find that, regardless of the condition, unrestored cars are far more interesting at a show than the over restored ones. I have always felt that cars that have stories and are allowed to tell them hold a higher value.
BTW - Squirrel.

If you really want to Squirrel... My son used to love the movie "Cars" With Lightning McQueen... Every time I watched that movie, I looked at the "paint" (I know it is not real) but the way it looked gave me gumption to want to go make my car look like that... straight as an arrow, and just pretty as can be...

Jason, how much did you let it go for, if you don't mind me asking? Trying to find out how much they go for since I am in the market for one, like the one you sold. Thank you

Re: 1992 Jamaica Yellow Formula roll call!!
I am from Canada/Vancouver island. I've been restoring a 92 GTA jamaican Yellow with full 350 Corvette package. Original owner was Tom Harris. All #s matching to a very rare car in which only 5 were distributed in this package in Canada. As far as my knowledge only my restoration and 1 other are left in existence. It's at the point of paint. I've spoken to a appraiser who has told me the #s I've given him are a match. I've gone all out on this restoration an curious as to what I should be asking once complete. For the record this restoration WILL be show room condition. It has just over 160,000kms. Cheers

Yes. According to Compnine there was 5 - 1992 GTA Trans Ams with the L98 in Jamaica Yellow with the Z49 (Canada export). I don't think the Z49 really adds any value or importance since it didn't net additional options not available (like 1987 did with 350 and T-Tops). So it comes down to color combination and engine along with 1992 being a low production year.

This is a cool thread. I'm a sucker for the banshee noses, especially the rare coloured ones. There's a base JY Firebird Convertible for sale up here in Canada, which I can't imagine is a very common car. JT, any idea of how many of those were made in JY?

I know this thread is kind of old but this is coming up for auction. Not a ton of info on it but looks to be L98 and CC1.

Well that's disappointing, was looking forward to seeing if it sold or maybe bidding. Hopefully they actually auction it off this time.

I don't unfortunately. It was the one on here that had been repainted Ford Chrome yellow by a previous owner. You can't miss the thing. It had a cowl hood with black stripes along the sides of the cowl and custom Formula decals. It was quite distinctive.

Re: 1992 Jamaica Yellow Formula roll call!!
And it is that time again... New updates to the Jamaica Yellow Firebird data, I have the production data for all of the Formula, GTA, FB Convertible, and Trans Am Convertibles, this data is unchanged and is complete. Unfortunately Pontiac did not save the complete data for 1992 Base Firebirds Y81 or W68, or the Y83 Trans Am cars, so that was only for USA Cars. I got the bright idea to combine the EXP+CAN data from Compnine With the data from Pontiac. What I ended up with is about as close as we are going to get in the foreseeable future, unless Compnine decides to add the non compiled cars into the data. This total 1992 data is missing 397 cars for Base FB and Y83 Trans Ams. BUT I have the total number of JY 1992's, just not specifics for Base FB or Y83 TA's.
Just an update on 1992 Production Numbers:
Pontiac Reported TOTAL JY 1992: 746
545 - Y81+W68 Base Firebirds Coupes
38 - W68 Base Firebird Convertibles (Total)
48 - W66 Formulas (Total)
39 - Y83 Trans Am Coupes
38 - Y83 Trans Am Convertibles (Total)
22 - Y84 GTA (Total)
730 Total (Missing 16 cars)
