Production Number question

Hello guys, first post here.

I traded for a Red 91' Formula 350, gray cloth interior, got my RPO codes, is a factory WS6 Formula 350 car. I've been searching for the last week or so, and can't find any production numbers on Formula 350 cars in 1991. So, does anyone know? Also, what is average price for one in great condition with less than 100k miles?
A/C works, heat works, motor runs great, is a hardtop with power everything, everything works, no burns or rips, interior is a 9/10. It's a very cool car, I've considered getting it painted to fix the fading on the spoiler and right front fender and just keeping the darn thing, but I'm not sure.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks, Skylar.

Re: Production Number question

I've already seen that, I was looking for how many 350 cars were made that year.

Re: Production Number question

After a little Googling, I found this thread in ForeverPontiac.com:

"When I first got the Bird, I contacted Pontiac's History Department, and got a lot of Dealer Only information. In the letter it stated how many Firebird Formula's were built (a little over 5,200) and of those made, only 1,198 were built with the L98 Performance package which was the 350 Corvette motor/ dual cat exhaust system/ 3:23 rear and engine oil cooler. I also got the Dealer order sheet which showed when it was ordered and when it was built and shipped. I do not know if you can still get in touch with them, but awhile back they were charging $50.00 for this service. "

I say you got a really good deal for a really nice car! Some pics would be nice if you get the chance.

If you are planning to sell, my estimate would probably be $7000+ at least. I suggest keeping it, but it is your car to wheel or deal.

350 vet motor, makes me chuckle every time..
A friend of mine has a blue 91 hard top formula 350. I'm thinking the above number is close to correct.

"OKFOZ" may have the numbers you seek.

Glad it makes you chuckle, because it annoys the hell out of me every time I read it. It's an incorrect statement, it's an attempt to make the car something it's not. It's just one of my pet peeves. So every 53-54 chevy sedan with an inline 6 has a "vette motor" too? Thats pretty cool!

Lol, don't get too worked up about it. Just wait for it, the 94-96 Impala came with the new 2014 Direct Injected Small Block Chevy.

IW-33 I'm glad you found that, because I had almost given up on the search, that's good news! I think the $7,000 is a little on the high side, I'm thinking this car is worth about 5,000-5,500. But again, appreciate the info!

Re: Production Number question

No problem, it was an interesting find.

People say that just to make their car sound faster/cooler. I've seen Nissan pickups for sale advertising "camaro motor". I click on it and he's dropped in a smokin' 3.1L.

Its just as annoying to me when people on TGO refer to their "WS6" car. Especially when, as in the OP, he refers to his WS6 Formula. Well no crap, all Formulas were WS6. That moniker only means something special in the late fourth gens.

On thirdgens its only a suspension upgrade. In the case of Formulas, its the standard suspension. It only became a popular focus because of the upgrades associated with the fourth gens.

Re: Production Number question

A hood is worthy of the WS6 name, considering its really a suspension option..

Yes, from 87-92, regardless of options, if you bought a Formula it had WS6.

Re: Production Number question

Unfortunately there is no real good way to calculate the numbers. The 1198 number is probably not too far off base...
All I can tell you for sure is the number of Base V6 cars, even using the Compnine numbers that show
Coupes - Does not include convertibles...
L98(350)- 3489
LB9 - 5346
L03 - 15058
V6 - 23719

and
Base - 34406
Formula - 5464
Y83 - 3313
Y84 - 2869

You really cannot calculate the numbers... There are some givens, for example all V6 cars were Base Firebirds, but the remaining L03 engine most of which went into the Formula, however you could order a Trans Am with the L03 IF it was exported, but not in the US. I forget how many L03 Trans Am's there were made. Even so, the GTA, Trans Am and Formula all could have the L98 & LB9 engine, so you cannot work backwards either.

Ultimately I cannot tell right now.
