It's worth what someone will pay. I'm surprised it would go for that much, but also pleased to see its so valuable.

I was guessing value somewhere in the 60-70k range at most. It does not have all the firehawk race options. Just basic Firehawk. I know there were only 25 built and I would love to have the vehicle but if I am going to pay 100k, I want one of the comp package ones. Again, just my opinion. I am sure there are others out there.

This car was on Denver C-list for awhile.

A base 'Hawk for nearly $100K
I remember when they were going for $25K like they were falling of trees and full comp cars were going for between $45 and $80K. Of course that was 10yrs ago
Jesus I'm staring to get old and realizing I didn't make the best decisions on investments
More power to him though, I hope he holds out for what he wants

That Firehawk is awesome. I have a fuzzy old rainbowed VHS recording of Don Garlits doing a review on one that looks just like it.

Don't count in it. Executor of your estate will sell it for peanuts. Check how many nice Model A's are for sale. Old guy's baby for 40 years, but after he dies, offsping couldn't care less. It's just another $12k to disperse.
And besides, the classic car your boy is going to want is some kind of Hyundai turbo.

Re: anyone interested in formula firehawk #11?
Model A? My father actually has a 1929 Model A it has something like 60,000 original miles on it. Interestingly it was his first car, and was originally purchased in 1929 as a repo by my great grandmother, the original owner could not pay the $700 so the bank took it, my Great Grandmother drove it for a while, then my father drove it through High School and college... It has been repainted once, it is a 2 door coupe and has the orgiginal interior under some seat covers. Value: $10,000 on a good day.

Re: anyone interested in formula firehawk #11?
Don't mind if I keep taking this topic off track, but when a car as young as 20 years old is commanding twice (or more than triple in the case of the JY 1LE Formula) the original new selling price, it's time to get into the philosophy of this finicky hobby.
The price bulge wave typically follows 30 years behind. The scenario goes like this:
A 15 year old boy first sees a hot new car in a magazine (or on YouTube I guess?). While boy is standing at the bus stop, live sample of of new car roars by and a permanent subconscious connection is made in his brain - someday he will own one. At age 45, his children are teenagers that have thier own seperate social lives so they don't need his time anymore. He not only has everything he needs to get by, he is debt free and has $10k in the cooler. Then one day he's pumping 87 octane into his daily transportation when the car of his boyhood dreams rumbles into the pump right beside him and the connection is re-established. Not being a car guy, he goes home, gets on his laptop and overpays for a good, but not particularity noteworthy version of his dream car.
57 Chevies entered this demographic early. That Grandaddy of Amercian bling has had it's finest moment, and they are now easier to buy than they were even 10 years ago. The 60's musclecars also became collectible before thier time, simply because the "performance" cars that followed were a joke. Even so, the 2nd gen F bodies (even the later ones) have been in the heat of escalating values for a few years now.
Is there any doubt that the 3rd gens are next? Even if they are late? Great styling, and in the proper configuration, acceptable performance will assure the top models will be on more "wanted" lists soon.
And what a shame about that Model A. A nice example of a legend can be had for $10k. But that's the game - waxing & waning supply & demand.

Re: anyone interested in formula firehawk #11?
Here are some things to consider before "investing" in a car
For grins... 1991/1992 the Dow Jones was between 2000 and 3000, high of around 3500, Today it is 16,000, at worst case scenario if you would have invested $39,999 into the Dow you would have quadrupled your money in 23 years to almost $160,000, and that is without touching it..
Inflation from 1992 or 1991 something $39,999 it would be worth $68,950 in 2014...
Therefore, inflation adjusted, the Firehawk outpaces Inflation but not the stock market.
Unfortunately the only people that benefit from inflation is the Government...

Still think the 9K I paid for my IROC wasn't that bad of a deal...Documented original 1 ownerttill 08 But look at the Buick Grand National...I've been looking for a nice relatively stock one since last summer. Really decent ones pop up all the time in the mid-teens. Which I'm happy to pay when I find the right one.

Seems to be a function of the older musclecar market being up in the stratosphere lately. Guess rare 3rd gens are being picked over too.
One could have picked up a Gale Banks 1984 turbo transam that went 220mph for about $85k late last year on ebay...

That is the one!
Guess a 200mph 3rd gen is not worth too much, but a Firehawk is. Those silly collectors.

Re: anyone interested in formula firehawk #11?
Interesting read. Haven't been on here for quite a while and hate that I just missed the dual snorkel air cleaner.
Anyways, having owned 4 firehawks I would guess the value to be between 60 and 80k now. Probably lower 70's?
Most are still low mileage examples but they need to be looked over carefully because many sat in a garage and have extensive flash rust underneath.
