I just remembered I saw an ad on CL a year or two ago for a 1987 GTA. It was gray. Very nice looking car relatively low miles well taken care of. In any case it was advertised as having all the SLP goodies including SLP heads. I think Hawks has this car now. I may call them and ask them about it to confirm.
Just wanted to post the question to see if anyone on the site is familiar with SLP heads.
Yes the car is on their website. Thats it in the pic. Maybe I misread the original owners ad but Im pretty darn sure the guy said SLP heads. I may call Hawks Monday and ask them. Its not mentioned in their description though and if it had SLP heads I'm sure they would have mentioned it.

1987 Pontiac GTA Hard Top with a full SLP Package, original 36,453 miles, 350 TPI (Tuned Port Injection 5.7L) Engine, Automatic Transmission. Gray exterior with gray cloth interior. The SLP package included SLP camshaft, Cold Air Intake, SLP Runners, Tri-Y Header System & the 1st generation SLP two out the left exhaust. This car is in excellent condition. Must see. I worked with a guy back in '88-'92 that ordered an '86 IROC with radio/AC/power everything delete.
He ordered the early SLP package direct from SLP. When SLP offered the cylinder heads he ordered them too. When he found out that they wouldn't fit on his 305 (the SLP catalog is wrong), he went and built a 350 short block to fit them.
IMO, the nice thing about those heads is the exhaust cross over. Nice to have if you need to keep the EGR without having to resort to trying to retrofit a Corvette system.
The only reference I've ever seen is the scan in this thread. I don't remember anything about heads on the SLP website in the late 90's. They certainly weren't part of the 50-state GM/SLP package. Makes you wonder how many sets they actually sold.

First, my questions are not intended to be obtuse.
But wasn't the Firehawk 50 state legal?
Would those heads have been those used on some Firehawks?

I can't imagine SLP gearing up for the aftermarket heads and another different version for the Firehawk. As well, didn't the T-Ram have EGR? And these heads were heat-riser equipped.

The heads on the Hawks I have seen have all been the vet 113s, supposedly, ported with a bigger valves. (have seen 1 rodeck motor car)
SLP had several other parts availble that were not part of the 50 state legal kit as well.
The T-rams on the Hawks use a EGR tube similar to the 91ish vet to get the gasses to the intake.
I have seen these heads on one or 2 of SLPs hawk test car motors.
I'd think it would be a added bonus, esp if the underdrive pulleys, oil pan, air foil and other stuff were added. I would pay a bit more for a car with documentation on them being installed back in the day.
Tony & I spoke about this over the weekend. I too would think that one of the SLP dealer equipped cars that had it's original documentation with it would be worth considerably more than a comparably equipped model without the added options.
Although not as much of an increase, I would think these will be viewed as the Berger and Baldwin Motion cars of this generation in a very short time.

Thinking along those lines I would assume the 91-92 cars would have a premium but the 87 mentioned up top would have an even higher premium given it had all its documentation. Given its asking price that seems to be the case I guess. I am not sure one could figure on getting close to that $17k for a similar mileage/condition SLP equipped 91-92.
