1987 Vehicle Value - Hagerty
I pulled up Hagerty's website today to look at the cost of insurance for the new car. The quote I got was over 3x what I currently pay through Grundy for the exact same coverage. While on their website, I noticed that they have Z28 Indy Pace Car and Indy Pace Car listed as options under Camaro, but the '82 isn't listed under any of those categories. The '93 is listed under Z28 Indy Pace Car and the '67 and '69 Pace Cars are listed under the Indy Pace Cars heading. So I went to select Z28 only. They give no extra value to the pace car for '82, I guess, so the value isn't registering well.
I decided to play with the valuation tool for the '87 and see a major spike in prices for clean "concourse" cars. Check this out. Does this finally show that our cars have value? Even to those on this board that say they will never have much value?

The graphics and calculations come from a number of different sources and those numbers have been ticking up in the last couple of years. Unfortunately all of the high end data is based on super low mile, untouched, unrestored & likely undriveable cars.
Based on that graphic, it would appear I did not overpay for my original 87 IROC when I bought it back two years ago.

I also checked the '89 IROC-Z 350 and it shows a value of $31,400. Unfortunately, I tried checking 1990, but was told that I used up my free price check uses. But to see a $7k increase just since January 2016 is substantial.
Don't forget to add 10% to the graph pricing if you have TTops!!
Not to brag, but I would think my car is a #1 condition due to the platinum awards that it's earned at the car shows and scoring 996 of 1000 points. Based on Hagerty's description of a #1. There are many cars on this forum that fit that category, so there you have it. Third gens are now valued over $30k, when just last year, some were saying that very few were even worth $20k!
