Phoenix Graphix Gold is the Wrong Color!!
I recently purchased a low mileage, all original 1984 Trans Am in the semi-rare Dark Gold Metallic color, with gold decals. One of the stripe graphics needed replaced, so I bought a replacement from Phoenix Graphix. The color is WAY off! Check out the attached picture...it's even more noticeable in person.
Are there any other companies out there that sell the correct color graphics?
Do any of you ever see NOS GM stripes come up for sale?
I may just have to have a custom graphic made in the correct color, because this obviously won't do.

Which kit did you get? They have an "economy" kit and a more expensive kit, usually.

Re: Phoenix Graphix Gold is the Wrong Color!!
I got my kit from classic industries because I knew PG was wrong (had the wrong color on other cars as well, the gold is much more bland and not " vegas gold" at all)
I THINK (not sure) the CI kit is from stencils and stripes. I have had good luck with S&S in the past.
I'll check mine, I did look at my decals briefly and they looked OK. Sure hope it's not as bland as a color as that. I have the same greenisch gold trans am decals on my trans am. They need to go (fortunately I got some OEM ones)

This is the kit I purchased:
https://www.phoenixgraphix.com/transam/1984ta.php
There doesn't appear to be an "economy" and "professional" version - just this one.

Good to know. I was going to order that for my ta since I'm missing most of the stripes (and I like the hood decal even thoigh not correct for mine)
Hope they come through with something that does match

Your stripes (originals) most likely faded after 34 years, their is no way they are going to match a fresh set. Me personally, I would have replaced them all.

I had returned a set to PG because the clear film was yellowish,so I assumed they were on their shelf too long, maybe that's what happing here. They replaced them with a fresh precut version that I didn't know was available.

Just an FYI that most decals have a limited shelf lifespan on the glue. You don't want to put NOS decals on your car today. They will peel off in no time.

Re: Phoenix Graphix Gold is the Wrong Color!!
I had bought a set of Phoenix Graphics for my 1982 Recaro TA. The color, when compared to what was on the car was way off. Granted things fade, but I think they are just not the proper gold. I had a set custom made and it was closer to the original color. The Phoenix Graphics set was also not made like the original set, which was gold stripes on a black background. The new set was just individual gold stripes on a transfer paper. So I had a set made more like the original set. I just found it odd that I was able to get a better set made by a small business graphics guy and a set made by a big company was so far off from what was original to the car.

I think that's the route I will go as well.
Did you just buy an aftermarket stripe kit, take it to your local graphics guy and say "I want exactly this, only in the correct color" - or how did you make sure the stripes you created were the correct size?
If you don't mind me asking, what did a project like this run you?

Re: Phoenix Graphix Gold is the Wrong Color!!
I have purchased 2 products from PG over the years. One was fine (size, color and letter font) but the other was "off" in color and adhesion. I think my problem was that they shipped me something that had been sitting for too long after manufacture.
