I recently purchased a 1991. The owner said it was a Trans Am. However, the insurance company is listing it as a GTA. I also have several RPO codes that I can't track down. Any help would be great!

Insurance companies like to do that so they could charge you more. There is no way they can determine it is a GTA with just the VIN. As said above, if it has Y84 it is a GTA. If it doesn't, then it is not a GTA.

Insurance companies can be strange. I can relate. When I first got insurance on my 1989 base Firebird it was listed as a "Formula II." Of course there is no such thing as a Formula II, so I don't know where they get this information. After some back and forth and education, it is now listed as a Firebird.

No. There is only the Y83 on mine. The ones I can't find are: D8M, R92, VAN, V1B, V73, 45Q, 62W, 72W, 8NL, 82C, 82I, 829, 9NL

Well if there is NO RPO Y84, Then its NOT a GTA Just a regular Trans am



Regarding your insurance, Back when I had my base 1990 Firebird it had the LO3 V8 and I remember the insurance paper said "1990 Firebird/Formula" .

So since it had the LO3 V8 which was standard V8 in the Formula it rated it as a "Performance Vehicle" $$$ :/

R92 is actually R9Z, some sort of sales control item, not really useful as far as your car goes
VAN - Van Nuys Assembly Plant
V1B - Value Package Savings - not sure what for, though
V73 - Probably fixed antenna
45Q - Molding Color - green metallic
62W and 72W are actually 6ZW and 7ZW, which are related to your front springs
8NL - rear spring
82C and 82I - Med Dk Gray cloth
829 - gray seat belts
9NL - rear spring
