1989 Camaro RS; 28,000 original miles; $12900
First, I want to apologize for the inability to click on this particular vehicle on the dealer's website. The website doesn't allow for it. It is the vehicle listed at the bottom of the link I have included.
Second, this is five miles from my house. I haven't been to look at it yet. I am not in the market for another Camaro, but I thought I'd share it with you all to get thoughts, what with the occasional discussion regarding values and the market for third gens. So, without further ado...

That RS had better be M-I-N-T for the asking price.

$12k is NOT low mileage IROC-Z territory. You might want to look at current prices of low mile cars.

I agree not exactly. You see alot of cars priced at 18 to 22 but they sit forever. Especially The low optioned examples. I have no doubt that you can get a really nice low mileage Iroc for 13k-15k. Even more so when you buy it off a owner, and not a dealer.

i agree , i would say for low mileage irocs with say around 10k to 20k miles on them and with the 5.7 all loaded up you can probably get them in the 17k-18k range not 12k .. now 305 irocs are a different story , there cheaper ..

I would want $7k-$8k for my car (if you want a 2-owner car with 18 years of service history for peanuts, go find it and stop wasting my time), so I don't see any reason this can't bring $13k. Granted, the red wheels, pinstripe, and mud flaps don't help, but if the car is otherwise really clean, has the optional Custom Cloth interior and power accessories, that price isn't out of the realm for an RS today, particularly in the rust belt.
It's time to stop giving these cars away. Want a beater, go buy a beater but you're going to pay if you want what I am selling.

I could see it. I've noticed that these cars in clean, running, not ratted out, condition seem to be bringing higher numbers these days. I think it's due to the fact that you just don't see them around as much as you did 5 years ago. I can't remember the last time I saw a thirdgen in one of our local junk yards, had to be at least 2 years ago.

I'd buy it...for around $8,500-9,000. Other than the miles, there is absolutely nothing special about this car.
If it was a 305 TPI/A4 IROC with same specs? I could see $11-12k. Make it a stick? 13-15k. 350 car? 15-17k car. Someone feel free to challenge me on this one, but that's been the general range for awhile now. Yeah, sure, we're seeing Mecum and Barrett Jackson ones topping $20k with single digit mileage, convertibles, etc...but in the real world, where you're not consigning and paying a 10% auction premium, these are the prices I see them listing for, and actually moving based on how long I see them online for.

Not following. The car listed had 28k miles on it and the asking price is around $13k. Then it was mentioned that 12k is low mile IROC territory. If the 12k was in reference to mileage, then I'm confused on how that refers to being "IROC territory"
The poster was saying that he believes the 12k was what a low mile IROC would sell for, and I disagreed. I can see this RS getting close to his asking price.
