right in my home town of Milford, CT too. never once seen it though lol. I thought the background in the picture looked familiar, in a pretty decent part of town.

Edit: actually I have seen this car, didn't see in the info that it was being sold by Napoli. they have a car lot that always has a section full of classics in front of the main road that they bring inside at night, this was out there for a couple days about a month ago.

Lenny likes bringing his cars down there to take pictures.

Lenny Napoli used to host the Nutmeg Pontiac Chapter events when they had the dealership on the post road. I've known Lenny for over 30 years now.

My first Camaro was an 85 Sport Coupe with that exact same base black interior. With the same base radio, crank windows, and only hatch release in the console. Seeing that interior bought back some good memories on what happens in the interior of a Camaro when your 19.

My 85 with the same setup did not have rear 6 x 9 speakers and the rear panels where sealed hard plastic without even the cutouts for 6 x 9 's and no speaker covers. Can you tell in these pics if the rear panels are sealed? Looks like they might be.

I ordered my 87 Radio Delete and the sail panels came the same way - solid plastic!

When I pulled the solid plastic panels off mine it did not even have the factory wiring for the speakers or the mounting brackets. I had to get everything from a junkyard camaro to put rear speakers in it. My camaro was the only one I had ever seen like that.

Have you ever pulled the panels on our 87to see if the wiring is even there?

It's not a year thing. Late 6cyl thirdgens have the solid torque arm.

Re: 11,308 MILE 1985 IROC-Z

I saw the build sheet on this car. It is another 1985 IROC with the performance rear gears GU6 3.42, without the G80 limited slip, and without J65 4way disk brakes. It came with the J42 aluminum rear drums. After April of 1985 you could get the J65 4 way disk brakes without the G80 that was previously a required option to get J65. This is probably because they ran out of the G80 option by that time. I've yet to see a 1985 IROC built after April with G80, does anybody have one?

Just curious if you have ever seen a 1985 IROC with LB9 without a 3.42 gear. I never have. As far as I can tell all LB9 IROC-Zs got 3.42s and all Z28 LB9s got 3.23s in 1985.

Have you seen anything different?

I have never seen a 1985 IROC-Z with the LB9 without 3.42 gears. I used to also own a non IROC 1985 Z28 with the LB9 and it had the 3.23s and also had the G80 option. It was probably built before they ran out of the G80. As I understand it you couldn't order a Z28 that year with the 3.42 gears unless the Iroc B4Z option was also ordered with the LB9 engine. Are there any non IROC 1985 Z28s out there with the GU6 3.42 on their RPO sheet?

I've always found it strange that my May built '85 doesn't have a posi - because it REALLY needs it. The G80 shortage explains it.

I have the same conclusion. I came up with this reasoning when looking at the options on the 1C5 "California" IROCs. All 19 of them that I've been able to locate were built during the 3rd week of May in 1985. They all had LB9, 3.42 gears, 4 way disks, but no G80 which never made much sense to me. They must have ran out after installing 15,357 of them earlier in the year!

I wonder if the chart is correct about the 1985 IROC-Z with the LB9 engine coming standard with the 3.23 gears and the 3.42 gears being the optional G92? I just haven't seen a 1985 IROC-Z with the 3.23 and when you look at the RPOs on these cars with the 3.42 gears it is listed as GU6 and not G92 as an optional rear gear would be listed as the chart suggests.

If anybody has a 1985 IROC-Z with the LB9 and the 3.23 gears on the RPO list would you post it. Also a 1985 with the G80 and a build date after April.

I think that since 1985 was the first year for the IROC option on the Z28 they decided at some point to make the ones ordered with the LB9 engine and B4Z IROC option standard with the RPO GU6 3.42 performance gears to make it a bit faster than the other models. So the RPO G92 performance gears didn't have to be ordered with this combination.

I have heard and seen it listed somewhere that 200 LB9 IROCs were built with the RPO G92 3.42 gears as optional equipment in 1985. I've yet to see one. This may have been early builds before GM decided to make it standard equipment.

I've also never seen a 1985 LB9 , IROC-Z28 with the 3.23 gears as standard equipment like the Z28s had that year.
