New member, 5.7 G92 option question
Hello all,
Just joined. I have a question or two about my car. I searched the forums, but didn't come up with any specific answers I didn't already have.
I have a 1989 G92 option L98 5.7 IROC Z28
I know they built a decent number of 5.7 3rd gen cars somewhat, and I also know they built 1426 G92 option cars in 1989.
I also have researched and found datasheets on all specs.
BUT...
My actual question is this, out of the 1,426 G92 option cars built in 1989, exactly how many of them were L98 5.7 cars, and out of that number, how many were actually L98 5.7 IROCS? Looking for a year specific, model specific, and engine specific number... does that actually exist?
Any help would be appreciated.

"does that actually exist?"
Short answer - No.
No one really kept track of option combinations. The only numbers that break things down that specific are Compnine numbers derived from rpo lists in the GM dealer database. The database only applies to late thirdgens and some export cars, and it's debatable how accurate they are.

No one knows, but I'll give you my guess: 300-400 LB9, 5 speed G92s and 1000 -1100 L98, auto G92s.
Just my guess....

Random vaguely related question, were there any single cat 89 G92s? Years ago during cash for clunkers my dealership took in a 89 G92 I'm remembering as having a single cat.

Re: New member, 5.7 G92 option question
I wish! I actually misspoke earlier, it was at the dealership next door to mine, I tried to intervene but the VIN had already gone into the CFC system, and the management there wasn't too keen on the idea of the car becoming "lost" or "mysteriously disappearing" It was very frustrating to see the car get sucked into that system.

It infuriates me to think about how many desirable cars were destroyed in that stupid program.

Yeah me too, every so often I'll remember the list of cars sacrificed to that asinine program, 3 gens, GNs, etc. Just sickening. BTW, is that an SS in the garage pic of your 87 vert?

Re: New member, 5.7 G92 option question
Excellent!
Mine's a '15 six speed manual. It was hard to find a stick and had to go to a dealer out of state. It's my daily driver, rain or shine or snow. People have been telling me to stop driving it lately. I tell them I already have a garage full of cars I don't drive.
