Which Camaros were sold in '88?
Just bought a modded coupe example and the bill of sale says it's an RS. I looked at my 1988 factory brochure and it only shows Sport Coupe and IROC. I know it's not an IROC. And I don't see RS available this year. So has to be a Sport Coupe?

RS came in 87 for california cars i believe. Sport coupe was dropped in 88 or 89 and RS became the new "base" model. But to your question, yes RS was available in 88

Does it have ground effects? RS had ground effects like the z28's sport coupes were plane janes.

88s had sport coupes and they had the ground effects, the badges on the car wil say “camaro”. Sc was dropped after 88. I have an 88 sport coupe, came with the odd ball spoiler.

Yes ground effects. Reading from Wikipedia, 1988: The Camaro line was greatly simplified this year, starting with discontinuing the slow-selling LT model, and dropping the base Z28. The IROC-Z package proved popular and the package became standard on Z28s. This resulted with two models remaining, the base coupe and the IROC-Z. 1989: The 1989 model year signified the return of the RS designation.

1988 had the Sport Coupe (with ground effects), the RS in limited markets (with ground effects) and the Z28 (dressed in IROC-Z trim). 1989 was the first year for full production RS models in all markets that replaced the previous year Sport Coupe. Many people believe the Z28 went away in 1988 and returned in 1991, but that's not the case. All IROC-Zs are Z28s. The RPO code Z28 was still present on the SPID label.
More than likely, your car is a 1988 Sport Coupe. As was mentioned, the ground effects will have "CAMARO" in the recesses and the horn button was originally square.

Scott is right they did build a few RS models in 1988 for limited markets. If you have one of these 1988 RS cars and not a Sport Coupe it should have the RPO Z5C on the SPID. Also, the original steering wheel on these RS were the same leather wrapped ones as the Z28 models.
