Ya but these things always have little cues that dont match the year i have got used to it. At least they put the Decals in the right spot for an '85!

By the way when you guys buy or collect these do you ever take them out of the packages? I cant help but take them out and play with them even though they may be worth more in the package. Im still a little kid

Exactly! If I wanted to play with a box, I'd find a box! Won't ever be sold anyway.

Nice thing though about being an adult is sometimes you can buy 2!
One to collect and one to play with.

The 1:18 scale Camaro has to keep me busy over winter until I can pull out the 1:1 scale toy for summer.
Unfortunitly, I only have one of the 1:1 scale toys . . . so far.
And it's not in it's original box.

1989 Turbo Trans Am Indy 500 Pace Car

I just pre-ordered a GTA last night, and am thinking about the TTA also...it's hard to say when there will be any more third gen Firebird die-casts after these are gone...

I went through diecastmuscle.com (this was on the list of GreenLight's places to buy from). I remember reading about a few other people ordering from there too, though I don't know if one place is any better than the others...

And they look like someone dropped the suspension lower than a cigarette pack. Could they fit the wheels any higher into the car?

I know. But it'd be nice if a company could produce a toy without having to cater to the "Dubz" crowd. Especially when the company that is marketing the toy is called big time muscle. :P

WHERE ARE THE 'BIRDS!!! Damn 'birds get no luvin' ...

Here's my collection, divided by column, per gens...The first column is Vettes, but pretty soon, they will be pulled off, everything moved over, and the 5th gens will start being added!

I'm gonna look for these tomorrow...my 3rd gen colum is too short.

Re: NEW die-cast i found

For those looking for 1:64 scale 3rd Gen Pontiac diecast- there are choices out there-

for example- since the 80's Hot Wheels made the " '80's Firebird ". (82-84 style) You can find many, many variations in colors, decos, rims, etc over the years. Look on ebay to get started.

In addition to this- Hot Wheels also made an '87 esque era diecast Trans Am in a slightly larger diecast size. (probably about 4" long) It's proportioned a little out of scale with larger rear tires and a pullpack feature, but it's still otherwise cool.

Matchbox has at least one 80's Trans Am, too.

Then there's the "Lock ups" brand cars. Offered for a few years in the early 80's they made both a Trans am and Camaro around 1982. Early third gens, they haverubber tires and opening doors that will lock up with the use of the included key. The wheels would lock up, also. It was a neat feature, but they werne't around for too long.

and I've seen many generic/ knock off 3rd gen pontiacs in 1:64 diecast. I saw a 3rd gen trans am i n1:64 in wal-mart just last week in a private label packaging (kid connection)

And then there's all the Knight Rider Trans Ams....

Do you guys know of any 1:18 third gen die casts?

These are only some of mine...

It'd be nice to add a thirdgen, but I've never been able to find one.

Re: NEW die-cast i found

Those are cool, but 1:64 is Hot Wheels sized... that's damn small.

I hate race cars, but the Irocs you posted are HOT!!!

Re: NEW die-cast i found

I pre ordered two GTAs from diecastmuscle awhile back. They keep changing the date when they are expected. At first, I was supposed to have them at xmas...now its pushed back to this August.

Anyway...Im keeping one the way it is... and the other... Im going to disect a 4th gen 1:18 and make the GTA look just like myc ar. LS1, seats, console wheels, whatever I can graft over... Should be pretty cool.
