Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
I'll probably be in the market for another kit here soon. I'm so used to the kit I have in my GTA that when I drive my convertible I forget that they aren't auto up/down. Only one way to solve that issue.

Lol...it's definitely true that the auto down/up isn't something you can really appreciate until suddenly you don't have it!

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
@formula1LE - I was planning on wiring relays and direct-to-battery power (w/ breaker) to speed up the windows (87 Camaro), but I think I'll jump on the express up/down feature instead.
Questions/comments:
1) Are the relays for switching purposes?... reversing the stock switches from + trigger to - trigger? If I switch the "power lead" to the switches to be a ground instead of +12V, would that eliminate the need for the relays?
2) Or are the relays used to provide direct power to the window motors?
3) I am cleaning up a hacked harness, and doing some other mods, so I would be mounting the modules and relays under the dash, probably near the ECM for space, and hard wiring instead of plugging in to the harness in the console.
Reply, e-mail and/or message me and we can discuss the details.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
The relays are wired in such a way to provide more voltage to window motors and to allow the stock switches to act as ground triggers. This way, adding express modules is easier.

Yes they are....I'm currently going through a LOT of solid state modules that I use in these kits for the 1977-up truck guys as well. If you need a kit, let me know if you want relay, auto down or auto down/up harnesses.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
I just have to say that this kit is awesome. A little tricky to run the modules wiring, but found a cool spot to put them out of the way, behind the trim piece with the " Performance Suspension" on it. Windows up or down in 4 sec flat. Thanks for this kit.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Finally installed my express up/down kit over the weekend. Only challenge I had was getting all the relays tucked out of the way but well worth the effort. Overall, super simple project to complete and well worth it, especially with a convertible!

not a big difference but my windows weren't that slow to begin with

Wasn't that bad getting the harness tucked away. Probably would have been a lot easier if I had single din deck 😳

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
might be interested, what are you prices for the kits these days? And how does the auto up/down work?
Press and hold for auto, and just a quick press to use normally? or does it always go up/down in auto mode? Most cars have a little extra "click" for auto up/down

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
$114 shipped for auto down or $146 for auto down/up. They function exactly like new vehicles-you can stop the window at any point during its express travel going up or down.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
No-the switches now act as ground triggers for the relays-power is re-routed to the relays.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
So power and ground wires now run to the relays, and only the 2 wires from the door motors go to the switches after running through the relays?

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Correct. All the wiring changes are done at the console switch area. Of the 8 total wires at the switches themselves only 6 are retained for the relay upgrade and auto features to function as designed. There is no difference in the wiring itself at the switches whether you opt for relay upgrade or for any auto up/down feature.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Thanks, got it now I think. Switches only have 2 wires running to them now, no ground or power, only the wires from the motor after running through the relays. Or does the switch need to be grounded still?

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Be patient. Something might be going on in his personal life for him to not reply to PMs and posts for this long. I've have been dealing with an issue on my recent order as well and have been having some issues getting a hold of him as well. He is normally very fast to reply. Sometimes we forget that we all have lives outside of TGO and that we might not want to post our personal issues here. Let's give him some slack and hope everything works out.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
All is well-I am arranging to send a kit to a member in Florida and yours is next-I have been working to build an inventory of LS swap harnesses for the 73-up truck guys too so thats a ton of parts/supplies to order. Typically I try to get some kits out within 2 weeks but it seems for every 2 custom harnesses I build I get 3 more orders lol....and not just 3rd gen stuff.

It sounds like business is good. While I'm not in a hurry at the moment (basement construction), I don't want to forget about it, nor be forgotten!

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Mine is installed! (sorta!)
I installed it enough to get it working yet haven't finished putting the center back together.
Overall, it's a great product and very nicely put together. It is larger than it may seem from some of the pictures. The auto down is also really cool! My window speed (driver side) is a bit faster I believe. Oddly enough, my faster side was the passenger side which is barley working at the moment and I suspect it's because I haven't finished aligning and putting it back together since I was installing new weatherstripping for it. So will update with final thoughts once everything is in proper place.
With that in mind... I have a question! How is it that the relays are supposed to make the windows roll up/down faster if the existing wiring is still used? I would suspect that if I ran a wire from the battery to inside the center console and into the main power for the kit then it would really speed things up? Just curious if anyone's tried it or would suggest trying it or not?

IIRC.the new relays that come with the kit allows more voltage= faster motors.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Just a heads up for everyone-I had a decent supply of OEM style window switch connectors to use in my kits just to make swapping yours out a bit easier-however, my supply is exhaused for the time being on them so you will simply need to re-use your existing ones. This doesnt affect the cost of my kit which will remain the same...initially I didn't include those connectors but then I got a deal on a small lot of them so I began adding them to make it easier to swap without adding to the cost of the harness kit. If anybody has a hoard of those connectors Id be interested in buying them tho-they appear to be a proprietary part exclusive to Delphi and nobody makes a reproduction of it that i've ever found.
At any rate, for those in the forseeable future who would like a relay/auto down/auto down-up window kit that is the only update for now.
Thanks again to everyone who've bought a kit this year-I hope you are happy with its performance!

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
250,000 cycles @ 40a load or;
100,000 cycles @ 50a load
This means you essentially have a relay bank that on its own through normal use is likely to never have a failure for a very long time. The only thing that I would worry about are spilled liquids. However, outside of slightly older, GM style sealed 480-series relays, there isnt a better relay to use-and those relays are OEM quality and while excellent in design, are about $18-22 each and that would put the price of the kit way too high imo.
I've tried to source the best components for the $$ and so far these TYCO relays are the best $$ value for high end relays with a very high build quality.

Re: power window relay kit EASY to install!
Price is the same $146 shipped for auto down/up, $114 shipped for auto down and $86 shipped for the basic relay upgrade. I havent “upgraded” it as much as I’ve changed the relay style from a mini to a micro so that at least the relay bank itself is easier to hide under the console shift plate.

All of the optional relay kits start with a relate upgrade above and beyond that are the auto down then the auto down and up feature.
