Looking for the rear tail lights wiring harness from a Formula, working and not chopped up. PM me if you have one and a price. Thanks, Mike.

Re: WTB: Formula tail lights wiring harness

What year? The tail light harness plug changed somewhere in the middle. I know in 86 it was a wide flat white or clear plug, and later (91-92) it's a square black plug, but not sure when the changeover happened. Also you'll want to match the harness to the trunk latch and rear courtesy light, probably 3rd brake light if applicable too, since all those are part of the tail light harness.

Re: WTB: Formula tail lights wiring harness

I have an 84 Trans Am and I like the Formula tail lights better. I already have a nice set with the center filler panel. My car does not have a 3rd brake light. I did not realize the number of bulbs and functions were different. I can modify my harness, but I would rather just plug in the correct harness.

The car does have that lame "trunk" light with the switch. Also it does not have the pull down hatch.

Ya 84's don't have pull down hatch option. IIRC, That didn't come out until 87/88.

I have a harness out of a 91 GTA and I MIGHT have one from a 86 Firebird.

PM me your offer shipped to CT

Dave

Re: WTB: Formula tail lights wiring harness

See attached.

My car has the 2nd style down.
I want to convert to the 5th pic.
The number of bulbs and their functions are different.

Your 86 Firebird harness might work.

Re: WTB: Formula tail lights wiring harness

I have an 89 formula I'm parting out, it's a pulldown model. Harness is in excellent condition somehow, no cracks that I've seen, not bubba'd and is the style you are converting to.
i can pull the complete harness, car is going to crusher in like a week after I strip it down

Re: WTB: Formula tail lights wiring harness

I'm interested. See post #2 above. Can you tell me what connector your harness has? Again, mine is an 84. I just won't use the pulldown and 3rd brake light wiring, since my car does not have either.

dixie wrecked, I just noticed - you also have a carbed 334.

PM me with the connector info. I think the best way would be for you to cut the harness on the car side, so that I have both sides of the connector in question. Try to leave 6-8" of wire, please. I'm sure I can make it work from there.

Re: WTB: Formula tail lights wiring harness

I have to reverse myself a bit... Happened to be in a box of wiring briefly today, looks like the tail light harness on earlier cars is separate from the rest of the rear body wiring. I found a box of harnesses from an 86, including the various trunk wiring, and not the tail light harness. I've got a good idea where the tail light harness is too, just can't get to it at the moment. These things happen when parts are stored all over the place.

I know what you mean. Getting older does not help either.
Let me know when/if you find it.

Which connector are you referring to? I pulled the plastics on the entire driver side (totally not with a hammer) and didn't see a connector for the tail lights- unless it's under the dash/kick panel.

Now I know where it is also. I will check mine today, but it is supposed to rain.

That is a great socket holder you have there. Who makes it? I want one.

It's been like that here too, annoying as hell trying to strip a parts car knowing it could downpour at any point. I can pull everything fully tomorrow too, spent a good few hours trying to get the damn clutch pedal out without dropping the column.
Yeah, column came out after hour 2.

I have no idea who makes it, but I think I got it at Lowe's on sale for like $18 bucks or so - it's convenient as hell for parts runs and whatnot!
