Anyone here bought/installed replacement carpet?

Did I get ripped off? I would expect an interior 1 piece carpet set to be one piece, molded, and pretty darn close to stock. Is that how everyone here got thier replacement? ...Fast forward to what I got. I got 1 piece for the front which is actually 3 pieces sewn together, and one piece for the back, again 3 pieces sewn together. Compared to stock, the carpet material seems cheap and doesn't have the rubberized molded backing. Additionally the jute is much much thinner. When I pick up the stock piece, it basically is really heavy and keeps its shape. The replacement is flimsy, light, and has not a lot to it. Is this how all replacement pieces are? I'd rather go get the stock steamed even how worn and faded it is. The replacement just seems like crap. Any thoughts or did I just get a bad vendor???

It should be molded not sewn. You should get a peice for the front and a peice for the back.

Mine was made by ACC they have been known to fade, but mine has held up good so far.

What brand did you get?

Am currently installing a ACC 2-piece carpet set. Both pieces fit well and are moulded correctly. What brand and how much did you pay? My set delivered was $335.00. Uses a heavy duty backing with console cutout. If you are not happy with yours send it back! Badman

I just did a ACC carpet in a 91 RS. IOt was molded with plenty of material around the edge to trim. I recommend you start at the front and work your way back. Kinda center the piece over the console and you will be fine. Where did you get the sewn pieces? Who was the vendor?

Got it on eBay... Basically 'you get what you pay for' type deal ($100 shipped) - it's a no-name bs product. They probably made it themselves. The seller's really cool though about returning. He has 100% feedback on 700+ posts. He says he has a one piece moulded set of better quality he'd apply credit towards if I want it. I've asked him for the manufaturer, so if it's ACC, I'll probably pull the trigger. He wants $140 for it, which is the going rate for the moulded ACC stuff on Ebay. I have a 'vert, so don't have much to do.

On a brighter note, I also found a good thread on a dynamat alternative while searching TGO I'm gonna try while my interior is dismantled. It's well written by a C5 Vette owner. He says the FAA approves this stuff for aircraft, so I'd say it's quality enough. I'm hoping it reduces some of the additional road noise I think is attributable to a convertible. Check it out.

i hate carpet!!! with that said i wouldnt try that "sound deadener" you jjust took a shortcut on carpet and got the shaft how well do you think this could possible work? il tell you straight up it wont. you need to add mass to the panels and that foam stuff just will not perform. look into second skin and brownbread and even Edead as long as you get the v2 or whatever. youll be much more satisfied. its like 140-60 bucks for 120 sq feet which was enough for mee to do everything in the car twicel. make sure you get a roller to get all the bubbles out too!!! good luck!

i put in a new carpet in the summer, i got mine from newark auto....their office is 4 floors up from my gym lol, i lucked out. they did a pretty good job, i think they order their carpets from custom interiors...it was not like stock, it wasnt as heavy but it was molded correctly and it came in a 2 peice front and cargo, didnt come with alot of jute padding but i didnt want that. color is a nice dark black. and it has the driver feet rubber wear pad but its not like stock, its got a premuim look and a diff material. it looks pretty good. u have to be carefull with carpet and u should only get the best or u get really screwed. ACC carpets are ok bc i did my reaserch, i heard they fade after a couple of years and i heard that the newark auto's are better and they are in the 300$ range. only issue ihave is the rear cargo area, the way they rolled it in shipping has given me wrinkles that havent gona away but arent that bad where u would notice
