What door panel is this?

I found this door panel at the junkyard in a firebird I think while I was looking for a steering colunm. I really like the style of that door panel and would like to add a set to my RS. But they were trashed so I didn't get them. But what year did they come on and what models? So when I am ready I know what to look for. Thanks in advance! Adam :-)

Re: What door panel is this?

That is the Firebird 85-89 Deluxe door panel option. If you want to put a set like that on your car, you will need to make sure you get the metal bracket for the arm rests, as they are specific to this style door panel.

They are not "GTA" door panels, they could be had on any Firebird, Formula, Trans Am or GTA from 85-89.

The last 2 pairs I have seen or pulled were form an 87 Formula and a 86 Firebird.

Re: What door panel is this?

Ok thanks guys. But since it's a "Deluxe Option" how rare are they. Can I still find some later or should I take those and try to use them. I should go get the metal brakets though so I have those atleast. What I want to do is have the panel black. And do the insert tan to match the seats. Adam :-)

Re: What door panel is this?

Haha, ironically I just removed those exact same door panels off my 87 Trans Am for regular black door panels. Mine are in better shape than those. I am almost positive they are fiberglass. They certainly are not that cheap carboard crap!. Lucky you, I took pictures of the door with out the panels so you can see what kind of mounting bracket you'll need. Enjoy.

Re: What door panel is this?

I'm not sure yet, I'm not going to keep them. They aren't mint. The door panel itself its in pretty good condition, but the vinyl needs to be cleaned up, or more advisable, replaced. The center cloth piece is also falling off. I haven't taken pictures or I'd post them.

If you can, snap some pictures. I might take them off your hands. Adam :-)

Re: What door panel is this?

I'll try to take some pix tomorrow. The only difference I've noted is that I had electric windows, so there isn't a hole for the manual lever...

Re: What door panel is this?

They are made of some sort of MDF basically, def not fiberglass. I have 2 sets, one of them the bracket pulled off that holds it to the door. I just used some 2 part epoxy to hold it on

one more... Upon closer inspection, I did see that they aren't fiberglass, but they sure seemed like it...
