can you replace the slide part of the shifter plate, someone broke the slide out of mine and i found a plate with a good slide but broken corners, so can this be done , i am asking before i go tear my car apart but it has to come aprt, right?

 

It can be taken out - just be very careful. I replaced mine, but I hated the notches in it (collected a ton of dust, impossible to clean) - so I went to the art/craft store, and bought a black plastic art portfolio for $5, cut out a chunk the right length/width, drilled a small hole and then cut out the right sized hole for the shifter ****, and installed that. It looks great, and best of all there's no dust collection now!

 

If you have the earlier style shift plate without a moving indicator then its easy to do.The slide piece does exacty that...Slides in and out without a problem.Very easy fix
