Ok, ive never noticed this before in all the years ive been picking parts for these cars.Anyone guess what im refering to.Besdies the crap condition.

the fact that theres a choice for third gear on there? i cant say ive ever seen that before all of the oned i have only show p,r,n,d,od,2,1

Yeah, thats it, pretty obvious i guess.I cant say i have ever seen one either.I have seen this pattern (as opposed to the O around the D) in later years, but in other GM cars.Never in the 3rd gen though.

Pre-700R4.....1983 was the 1st year for the 700R4, so it is a 1982, 1-year only item.

Pre 700r is D 2 1, not D 3 2 1.
Turbo 350 is from 82-mid 83, then 700r from mid 83-up.

Ours has overdrive marked with a circle around the first " D ", then the other " D ", then 2 1

I don't see what caught your attention with the back side??

I know what the "normal" pattern is, thats why im asking about this D 3 2 1 deal.

Back is same as all othe 4 speed shifter plates.Got no querrys on that.

Ive had a few of those.Its a 1983 shift plate.Just saw one the other day at a local yard in an 83 z28.The 3 is for drive and the D is for overdrive.At the bottom it has that rectangular block where it would have the automatic overdrive print.The 1982 shift plates do not have that
