adding a/c

well i pulled my 406 out tonight to put a mild 355 in for daily driving this spring through fall, the car was pretty much a weekend warrior so the ac and heater core were removed. but the rest stayed. i have everything under the dash, including the control intact. so my question is what all do i need to put it back in. it has been 3 plus years since i did it.

i need the heater core box under the dash(obviously) and i will put a new heater core in while its out. also where do the heater core lines run to? the water pump plugs?

the ac box and blower motor that goes against the firewall under the hood that contains the evaporator.

the ac lines

the accumulator

the condensor

i ran the compressor even though it wasnt hooked up so i already have that.

is this all i need? all the plugs are still there for it so is there and plugs or other ac parts im missing?

and if anyone has these parts for sale or a complete a/c assembly, please pm me and i will take it off your hands

Re: adding a/c

I assume you've got a AC Compressor and the brackets that mount to the engine? Did you buy the right lines for your year car? Orifice Tube will be needed too. It installs in the tube underneath the drier.

You'll need various O-rings(buy a kit for 134). Also, buy a conversion kit to get the proper adapter fittings.

I mentioned 134...so you should get lots of help now. FWIW...I did mine last winter with R134 and it works pretty well.

i bought an the lines that go to the compressor off an 89, and the single hard line i have yet to buy, this is the one im looking at though

http://www.ebay.com/itm/130638432211...84.m1423.l2649

also does the drier just bolt right to the evap as well?

and yes i have the compressor and the bracket, i have been using it to run the serpentine belt, even though i wasnt using ac.

If the compressor has been running open, I suspect it may be trash. You probably should look into a new one.

The dryer bolts to the evaporator.

Re: adding a/c

We flushed my system out with a pressurized jug of flushing stuff(don't recall what it is, you can buy it in quart cans at parts stores) to get the old oil and such out.

Make sure you do lots of research on the process so you're as wlel informed as possible when you start the project. I'm not telling you a bunch of things I'm sure that I assume you already know.

Re: adding a/c

i have a vacuum switch that has 3 ports on it, and the set of vacuum lines i have has 5 holes? do i need a different set on lines? i have 4 vaccum valves total and id imagine one would go to the manifold for vacuum source. and could you take a pic of the wiring for the hvac behind the radio and under the hood? i dont know where anything goes. starting from scratch basically. thanks
