1991 Z28 Auto/700R4 and Shifter ****...

Ok, So one of my upgrades in the upcoming weeks will be to replace my shifter plate, because its not up to par for my car..yes I will probably sell my old one, which is still pretty darn nice....But, I'm reading some conflicting threads as to how to remove my shift **** from the stick...I have the typical thumb plunger type..not a t handle, and not a 5 speed ball....so, is there a c-clip in the front that I have to pull out, or is there a circlip under the thumb plunger?...I dont have car in front of me til weekend and want to hit the ground running on my punchlist..Thanks in advance.......just in case it was that easy!

On a 91 Z, should be a c clip in front

A small flat screwdriver to pry the c clip out and then pull strait up on shift **** should do it.

well thats good news to my ears. last weekend was repairing my vacuum valve (behind the ac controls) and remounting my head unit..so I was looking for an easier weekend...Thanks for the answers...and I'm pretty partially biased toward the Blue Z's///...
