My hatch only opens with a key because the button didn't seem to be working. The button itself is fine but it's not attached to anything underneath. There is a cord of some kind but it doesn't fit into the button or reach to the opening anyway. I was searching online and maybe it's missing a hatch relay? I just want to know what part to buy
Trunk button prongs
This is what appears to fit into the hatch relay. Is there an intermediate cable or switch that goes between the hatch relay and the actual hatch button?
Responding only from partial experience... I am trying to add a hatch switch. If you can show more pictures of that hatch harness it would be much appreciated and benefit you to make sure you have a complete harness. Also, I would add your transmission / engine information or at least mention manual / automatic for correct wire coloring.
Top picture (switch) will have HOT in (orange) with a wire out to the relay (brown). The black connector (second picture) is for the relay (D1776, Amazon has it for $6)..
The relay will have Yellow, Brown, Black wires. Yellow is for safety (e-brake / park), Brown is from the switch (12V), and Black is to the hatch solenoid in the trunk.
As long as you have the full harness, it should be a matter of plugging it in and being ready to go. Can anyone else confirm?
