1985 2.8L coolant and oil gauge install...?

Hello folks,
I've got a 1985 Camaro V6 2.8L that may be too hot to trot. I want to get a set of gauges to monitor what's going on and need to be kinda cheap about it. I was wondering about a good location on installing a mechanical temp gauge without removing the stock sensor as I would like it to stay connected to my red light of doom on the dash. I have an idea of where to install the oil pressure unit but have failed to see anything on a v6 install. Is it like a 350 where you can take the threaded plug out of the head or is it totally different? Any help is appreciated and pics would be nice.

They make sleeves that go inline of your radiator hose that should work. Looking amazon, summit, etc have them. Search for radiator hose coolant temp sensor.

The oil pressure you can just T off the existing one and put the factory and aftermarket one on the T. You can't really T off the coolant though as it will effect the reading.

There are a few other coolant sensor options. Some water pumps have a threaded insert in them that can be used with the right adapters. I've seen freeze plugs with sensor holes in them.

Obviously the head is the best spot as the water will cool down before it gets to the return hose.

You can also get a sensor that will feed two gauges you will just have to make sure its ohm range is right for the factory and the aftermarket gauge... that may be hard.

You may want to ask over in the v6 board though for a sensor location.
