#10 torx screws for door handel bezels

Does anyone know of a source for the small #10 torx screws that hold the door handle bezels to the door panel. I want to get rid of the wood and metal screws somebody used for a quick fix on my 89 Formula 350..

Thanks

Clips and Fasteners.com They got all kinds of clips and fasteners for F-Body. But watch out....you'll end up with $150 worth of stuff in your cart because you found more stuff!!! Ask me how I know!!

Junkyards? I understand not having a local junkyard or much selection in said junkyard, but any 82-89 Camaro or Firebird should have a lot of them. There aren't many in later firebirds, but later Camaros still have a lot of them. Worth looking in other GMs of the time period, Fieros used them, pretty sure some of the econo-junkers like the Cavalier used something similar in some years. I've got a ton of them just from never throwing away a screw, bolt, or nut when parting a car or stripping junkyard parts. If I unscrew a fastener, it might just as well go in my pocket then on the floor of a car where it'll be thrown out. They're not worth trying to resell because most people never want to pay for the shipping, much less used hardware.

Not sure if Auveco carries the torx screws, but most GM nuts and bolts they'll have. They don't generally don't sell directly but you can usually find them from an Auveco dealer like Clips and Fasteners, or search Ebay for the Auveco part number. Or hit your local auto body supply store if you've got one. Box of 50 or 100 is usually only a few bucks.

Drew must live in fantasyland because 3rd gens are slim pickins or a pile of stripped bones in the yards near Syracuse or
most of south Florida on my recent yard tour. Even so. Jersey only has a couple orf worked over cars.
That small stuff is gettin very $pendy to boot from a vendor!

Is this Fantasy Land? No, it's just Kansas. Junkyards in general are a rare commodity around here, much less one with anything thirdgen. Still I get pings in my email from the U-Pull-It in Wichita a few times a year about new thirdgen arrivals. In recent years I've found 2 or 3 thirdgens to pick for parts, just looking in the classifieds here. Open up the search to include Craigslist or Facebook marketplace listings, and I'd expect it'd be pretty easy to find a donor car for small parts within an hour's drive radius. Sometimes you've just gotta look.

Re: #10 torx screws for door handel bezels

Did a little digging... First, GM in the 80's would go three blocks out of their way to avoid refering to something with an SAE or traditional US unit of measurement, like for example #8 (No Bueno!) but you can call it M4.2 (MUY BUENO!) and GM will print that stuff all over. Subsequently a GM screw from the 80's is usually easier to find with the Metric identifier. I know it's stupid, but this is GM we're talking about here.

So you pop into Google, and search for a M4.2 torx cap screw and hit the magic button!

https://www.kimballmidwest.com/All-P...y-Screws/12881

https://www.camarocentral.com/1982_1..._p/int-229.htm

https://www.lawsonproducts.com/lawso...crew/P20868.lp

https://car-pak.com/product/car-pak-83-5677/

Looks like 14044408 is the common GM part number the masses have decided to associate with these screws. A little digging further, and we find that in addition to the applications I list above that you might stumble across in a junkyard, you can add early S10s, S15s, probably Astro Vans, to the list. Probably worth peeking inside any early Jeep SUVs with GM crossover parts, Cherokees, etc.

Just a few more options and a peek into finding GM parts 101. Good luck!

Edit: Just FWIW, there are at least 4 different length and a couple different thread pitches GM used on these screws. The 4408 looks to be a 20mm long thread. In some cases you may need to cut down the length, depending on where in the car you're putting the screw.

LOL! Sounds like where I work. All drawings have to be dimensioned in metric. Just a couple weeks ago I was looking at a drawing and had to take a vote in my workgroup what tool we think was intended to be used with an 8.4 mm HEX insert.

Thank You for the information. There is only one Camaro/Firebird salvage yard here. Things there are picked over or in bad shape.
