LT1 swap computer chip questions
i have a '93 LT-1 and i'm still getting everything together to put it in. can someone tell me what kind of changes need to be made to the computer chip to work properly with my '88 firebird. also, where is a good place to either get this done, or buy a new chip?

That's quite an open ended question....
I'm helping a friend put an 93 LT1 into an old Woody. So you can put the LT1 into anything.
Your question needs to be narrowed down a little more specifically so you can get some answers.

well, i know that the VATS needs to be disabled, and i plan on modding the engine down the road, like cam, head porting, injectors, etc...but i don't know if the computer needs additional changes for that when it happens. anyways, other than VATS, what else needs to be done, if anything?

Are you going to keep all the smog stuff?
Is it required and/or do you wish to keep it?
This will change how you wish to modify the chip. If you want to burn your own chip you can go over the the DIY PROM section and learn about that.
If you're going to keep everything stock, and don't want to burn your own chip, then you can go to several vendors and just get a chip with VATS turned off and keep all the stock values the same.
If, down the road, you wish to start making changes, then probably the most economical thing to do would be to learn how to burn your own chips.

Yeah if you aren't doing any mods right now a stock chip will work fine with vats removed. I had madz28 do mine. madz28.com - Rev your madness to the MAX!
