oil pan removal w/ls1 & tubular k-member
Does anyone know if you have to drop the k-member to remove the oilpan? It looks like I "might" have enough room with my BMR k-member, but I don't know.
I just don't want to get started and find out halfway in that I need an engine hoist. I like having everything I need before I start. Plus I really don't want to drop the k-member.

you might get away with it, the LS1 pans dont have to come down so far, you'd need to unbolt, move it back enough to unbolt the pickup then your pretty much clear.
You might have an issue with the bellhousing lower bolt area. Its gonna be tough.

Thanks. I might go ahead and try it. The bellhousing area is what I was afraid of. The pan is pretty tall back there.

Well it won't work. At least not with my BMR k-member. The pan drops down far enough to clear the pickup, but not far enough for the rear of the pan to clear the bellhousing (t56).

CRAP. I got a BMR K member and motor is in, but the H3 oil pan is a No-Go. Live and Learn. Need to drop the pan and replace with an LS1 oil pan. BUT I got a 4L60E. Wonder if I'll have better luck??
