Engine: 6.2L LS3 to come
Transmission: 4L60E LVL2 700rwhp
Axle/Gears: 3.73
Weight Reduction- Need some numbers
I'm trying to see how much weight I will be shedding after some changes made to my 92 Camaro Z28. I need help finding some some item's weight. Mainly LSX swap parts
Replacing the 350 TPI engine with an LS3 6.2L Crate Engine
Replacing The factory K member with spohn K member and engine mounts
Replacing the factory Crossmember with a spohn crossmember
What do the cloth front seats weigh?
How much weight do you think I would loose by running true duals, no cats, and flowmaster delta 40's versus the stock exhaust setup.

The LS3 is about 100 # lighter than your old SBC. If you care about weight, a 3.5" or 4" single exhaust is much lighter than 2.5" duals. The 4" definitely far outflows dual 2.5s, and is still as good a fit. A single 3.5" is actually a better fit than true duals.

For the exhaust, you may not lose anything by running true duals, you'll probably gain weight from a complete extra pipe going to the back and another muffler.

So would I get just as good or better performance by running a single 3.5" or 4"

I've heard you can get just as good of performance from say a single 3.5" as opposed to dual 2.5" or something like that. I am not sure on the performance factor so much but there are plenty of threads in the exhaust section about this type of thing.

i haven't done the calcs to justify it yet, but as far as fluid dynamics, i think a 4" will flow 3-4 times as much as a 2.5", so about 1.5 - 2 times as much as 2.5" true duals. thats what i plan to run eventually when i get that far. and it sounds like it'll be a lot easier to route than true duals.
