Factory harness needed?

Im getting ready to drop in my 370/4l80e setup and need to know if I will need the factorg third gen harness to make it run. Its a carbed engine, full manual tranny, aftermarket gauges. The only thing im unsure of is wiring the key up for the ignition and the alternator. Does anyone have any insight on this?

thanks,

Dustin

What are you using for the fuse/relay box?

If you have the LQ4/9 harness, the alternator wiring is built into that harness except for the connection to the battery.

The factory fuse/relay box, or a swap relay box, will need battery and switched power. You'll still need to supply the battery voltage to the chassis via the two large red wires that went to the starter battery terminal originally.

You will also need to hook up the purple starter wire from the C100 plug so that when you turn the key the starter gets power to turn over. I am sure you can route this a different way, but I would bet using the factory C100 for the 2 big red wires and some of the orange switched power wires would be easier. Also how are you running your fans? Again I am no expert, especially when it comes to a carb setup, but I would think you still need at a minimum a few wires from the c100.

Re: Factory harness needed?

I currently dont have a wiring harness at all. The only fuse box is under the dash that im aware of. I was going to use a switch to run the fans, but if I can make it work by itself that will be nice. I can get the c100 wiring harness and use I suppose. Will I need anything else?
