I will have to see how the exhaust plays into that. I may not have room, if the aftermarket arms are larger.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
yeah I just noticed that tonight. I'm already running a pro kit! should I really go with sportlines?
I'm really really hoping that a spring was installed wrong when they put the k member back in.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
deff. looks way to high to be a lowering spring already. Im sure you did loose a lot of weight off the front.
Id consider a global west weight jack setup. This way you can get the stance you want.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
doing some searching, there is about 100 pound weight difference from a dressed sbc to a dressed ls1. Add 80 pounds for the blower and all the parts, and its about the same.
I'm thinking a spring is installed wrong.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
To settle it has to move around.. But also it is 150 lbs difference between sbc and LS1 (and by adding the blower you are removing the previous intake manifold so I think your front end is alot lighter than you may think)

I agree with pocket, drive it for a few weeks and then look at it again and see if you really don't like the stance.

Mine sat higher than I thought it should after my swap. I thought I would need to lower it in the front, but after driving for a couple weeks it settled quite nicely. I'm no longer concerned. I didn't do before & after measurements, but I think it rides where it was before the swap.

No need to go a few weeks. Take it around the block and over a few bumps. A mile or two tops
FWIW, I have basically the same setup as you, +65lbs for my iron block. Pro kit up front stock springs in the rear. Looks as close to stock ride height as I can manage. I tried the Pro kit springs in the rear, but it looked like it was launching perpetually

I wasn't saying to wait a few weeks that the springs would settle more, what I meant was a few weeks to make sure that you don't like the stance before you spend the money on springs.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
Also FYI... when I swapped to an LS1, I used eiback Pro Kit, and the stance, IMO, was great. Level too.
When I put my LQ4 Iron block in, I expected to see a change in the front. I havent seen any difference, and it has a few miles on it. I also didnt tighten anything until weight was on the front end.
Mine always settles pretty much all the way after I drop it and roll it a couple times to unbind the tires. It certainly doesnt need to drop more than 1/2" though.
Car looks great! Have em check the spring index and maybe it'll drop where its supposed to.

they said that it is NOT because of the porting...so what else could it be?

they said it was likely a "bad casting" and they've seen it before....

A third option would be to try welding it all up and redrilling/tapping the hole. If this were my car I would probably start with putting thread sealant on the bolt and seeing how that goes. How would you like to proceed?

or someone put a bolt in there that is too long and cracked into the water jacket. Check the others, thread a longer bolt in by hand and measure how much depth you get and how much you have till the header flange and compare to what you had in there.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
how much porting was done? The reason that I'm asking is that those 799 heads are plentiful and cheap. Unless you've got big bucks into the porting, I'm not sure I'd want to fool around with that head. If it indeed is a crack somewhere and not just a "poor casting", then slapping a little thread sealer in there isn't going to make the problem go away. At the very least I think I'd want to pull the head off and take a much closer look, perhaps with a boroscope so that I could see what it looks like on the other side. Doing that to verify that there isn't some sort of a crack would at least give peace of mind so that you wouldn't always retain doubts in the future.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
Ive seen tons of castings like that. Every MAKE has one if not mre then one bolt that runs into some kinda port. DSM (talons , eclispe) have exhaust studs that go into the oil port. a big WTF. if you dont seal em with something that will leak oil.
get some ARP thread sealant , and drop a Tab in the cooling system
GM Part #3634621. GM has been using this stuff for years on the factory built cars.
or get some Alumaseal its a good product also. Ron Davis (radiators) even said it would be fine and wouldn't worry about it clogging up his radiators.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
The thread sealer worked! They drove the car a bunch today and started tuning.
The bad: the oil pressure sender broke. They fixed and relocated it, but it leaked onto the clutch and its slipping. They pulled the transmission to look at it.
The good: it sounds mean!
