That's a big plate man! Lookin good. Did you grind the nubs down by the steering shaft? I wasn't sure what they were?

I got that big ol plate welded in and the rest of the filler panels welded in yesterday. Wasn't really taking much for pictures, but I snapped a couple after starting to grind down the welds (obviously not finished). I can start to see where this will be taking shape and I'm happy

Damn, that is going to look slick. So basically just Booster, Wiper, Steering, and clutch coming through the wall? Are you routing all the wiring in the fender wells?

I hope so! Yeah not too much. Most of the wiring is going through the fenders, and some will come through the firewall, and still deciding on where I will need to add another firewall hole.... Figured I'll do that when I mock the engine in to make sure everything clears as its supposed too.

That's gonna be awesome. I debated on the same, but decided on some pretty loom instead. The hole right above the sub frame on the passenger side seems to be the go to, which is what I did. It is still a little noticeable there especially with all the smoothing you are doing. I wonder if you can drop the wires down from the trans hump somewhere and just run them up the engine.
I ended up using a Metal reinforced filler after your post sparked my interests. Talked with my painter friend, and he swears buy it when doing custom panel work and such.

So the teal coils are going the way of the teal rocker arms huh? I thought the set up you posted looked good. No coils looks even sicker tho.
I'm interested to see where the motor ends up with those mounts. At first it sounded like it would be way forward, but now not so much. I probably would have went with those cause I really like the trans mount, but they said you need a custom drive shaft too (which now it sounds like you might not).
Better safe than sorry on the filler, not something you are going to want to re do! Which one did you use? And I hope you have a bunch of sand paper, clogs up pretty quick.

Teal coils will be tucked away and hidden... I liked the look, but I like it without coils even more.
I'm not worried about the shaft as currently the slip yoke at my ride height is stuffed enough to tear the outer dust cover on the output seal. It could stand to come out a little. It will be interesting to see for sure though.
Yeah likes it for the cracking strength more than anything, and recommended the evercoat m2m steel, but bondo brand metal filler would work in a pinch, so for $15 I was able to skim all my seams in my panels, with a spur of the moment change in plans.

Joking about the rockers man. Gotta put at least a little teal on the engine tho right?
I didn't think about the DS being pushed up on a lowered car, makes sense. Was hoping someone would test out the trans x member with the hawks motor mounts before I was ready to put the engine in, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Would have used the motor mounts too if they worked, same design as the others tho just different placement.
Bondo brand is supposed to be decent stuff now (3M), you should be good.
As for spraying it like that from the other thread, I would think you should be fine. Fenders and hoods ect out in the open have a big surface area for trash to hit so you have to be real careful. In this case they are kinda shielding your work area from other stuff. It looks like you have a real clean shop so I wouldn't be worried.

Not sure if you have decided on what loom to use on the exposed parts of the harness, but I switched all mine over to the nylon braided stuff. It looks sooooo much better than the corrugated tubing. I got all of mine through Summit. It's made by Ron Francis. Nice stuff! The nice thing is it's split so no need to remove connectors.

I saw a gorgeous LS3 swapped Chevy 2 at a show last summer (most likely the owner had the car done by someone else) and the engine bay was super clean. The wiring harness was run dead middle in the fire wall just above the trans hump, it was very tucked away and hidden, the only reason I noticed it was because I was specifically looking for how it was done.
I also ran all my extra wiring along the inner fender, which helps. I'll be re-doing my wiring to go behind the intake when I take the motor out next.

Headlight harness and fans will all be going through the inner fenders. I hope I have it planned and mapped out good enough to not have to re-do it later.

From my end running a shop 5 days a week turning cars in and out quickly is the name of the game. I've busted my butt to try and keep it moving, but feels like I'm at a snails pace here, so the updates feel like on my end to be boring... Maybe cause I'm getting tired of sanding LOL!

I stayed up real late on Friday night, and got some sanding and filling going on. Hoping to have this baby in primer by the end of the week, or at least by Monday.
I posted this on IG, but thought it was kinda cool to be able to see some of the changes. I'm sure it will be more noticeable when in one color.

Re: BADNBLK's 91 Z28 LS1 swap... Engine + much more :)
Got side tracked with getting my wife's project done (Its really mine, but you know) in the kitchen... I did finish my heavy sanding and shaping under the hood and I'm about one step away from throwing this in primer.
Went as far as pulling off my Camaro "Condom" to wash the entire car before any taping for primer
Bad news... I found out late in the project that the cover-alls I had been wearing had a jagged edge on the lower portion of the zipper, and it cut right through the fabric of the cover-alls, and right through the protective film, and right through the paint... I have a painter friend of mine that I trust to re-paint both fenders and the nose/valance while I continue on with underhood and engine installation. Total bummer, and I'm pissed at my self for it, but honestly couldn't have been a better time to need to go in for paint.

NOOOOOO!! Damn that suck man. But like you said at least it is a good time for the car to be down, and you won't loose pace with someone else painting it.. I know I at least have to buff mine out cause I didn't wrap it up, but it's soo damn dirty I might be in the same boat here soon. I usually wear stuff without zippers when I work on it, but also got a horrific welders "tan" (burn) cause I was too lazy to go change.
We work in a shop where taking care of customers car is #1, and fender covers, no belts and such are common practice. These Cover-alls had a problem with the lower zipper causing a broken edge to tear through the fabric, I should have checked. I would chew one of my guys *** for this to a customer car... I feel like I have mentally chewed my own ***.

Always my own worst critic too man, just gotta suck it up and move on. Having the fenders off should help routing stuff as well so the way your doing it is probably easier like this anyways. I always seem to spend twice as long doing something so I don't have to pull an extra part when it would have taken half as long to just pull it and put it back on when I'm done.

Thanks man! Getting closer to good every day.
Thanks! I think I'm gonna toss the motor in today. I need to make sure my k-member notch is gonna clear correctly, and plan my hole/s in the firewall for wires.

Re: BADNBLK's 91 Z28 LS1 swap... Engine + much more :)
Got my core support, support mod going last night. I used a custom radiator which fits under the core support, and needed to mod the core to fit the straight up position cap. With the core cut, I couldn't stand to look at the thin un-finished sheetmetal edge. I grabbed up some 1/4" round and bent it to follow the core, and welded it in.
It's in filler now, so I'll post some better pics of that here soon enough.

Re: BADNBLK's 91 Z28 LS1 swap... Engine + much more :)
After getting the core support in primer and guide coat like the rest of the bay, I worked on getting the engine set in to make sure I had no fitment issues before its all painted...
I found that the notch I had cut off a quick measurement on the pan was not wide enough. Measure once, cut twice I suppose. Really only need about 1/2" of notch to clear the f-body pan with the holley mounts. I will snap a pic with accurate measurements for anyone else benefit when I pull the motor out again.
