Yeah it is the catch can. The nose emblem has been gone since about 2006 when I last had the nose re-painted.

Build looks amazing and is eerily similar to what I am in progress of doing as well. You mentioned your coils are under the dash. Would that be inside the cabin or underside of the flange in the engine bay? What valve covers are those? Again, car looks hard. Nicely done.

Yeah my coils are mounted inside the cabin under the dash. The valve covers are Pro-form IIRC with a Billet Specialties Cap modded to work. Thank you very much! I'll look forward to seeing yours!

So last week was a crazy thrash!!!!

I got the car put together enough to drive it Wed afternoon. Took it out side and just about cried as there was a horrible grinding noise from the driveline... Wed night I was able to trace the grinding down to driveshaft scraping on the parking brake relocation bracket from Hooker, and I ground that down ASAP. I wrapped up the under dash wiring/mounting and threw the interior back together. Then moved onto getting the Skinnyboy lighting QUAD PROJECTOR HID lights working. Wired those in, and set up the turnsignals and halos the way I wanted them. It was about 1am at this point, so we went for thrill rides out in the country and I found that the car HAULS BUTTT! Thursday Morning I took the day off work, and went and had the car aligned and then went to a local tuner that could help me make sure my tune was close enough to not hurt anything during racing (that he can lol). After about 3 hours of messing with the tune I got a call my wife need to go to the hospital, so I stopped the tuning and raced to the ER (She is ok). After tucking my 3 kids into bed I packed a small tool bag and headed out into the night, and drove almost 400 miles back and forth on the local interstate from Denver to Wyoming, a few times. I went home and slept for a couple hours and headed back to the shop to change oil, perform nut and bolt check. Found one of my axle seals started leaking, so go to add that to the to -do list. I needed to be on the road by 2pm... well it didn't work. Had setbacks with trailer lighting and we had everything loaded on the trailer by 7pm. So by 11pm I had just enough beer, and a shower I went to bed. Woke up at 3am and fired up the diesels and made a mad dash to the track!

WE MADE IT!!!!

I'm gonna have to post up photos and videos soon as I'm having problems loading them right now.

The car pulls so hard up top! It ran really well, and stayed cool even in the 100* weather. I scored very high on the design and engineering competition, until they docked me for not having a back up light or operational horns... Apparently I was too sleepy to think about hooking those up. The fuel pump relay quit on me before the final call for my road race run group, so I missed that.

All and all I couldn't be happier. I made a goal and met it. I also made what I think is a pretty BAD car... Looks with performance, that can be proven as I'm not affraid to take it out and whip on it!

Are you still using the stock fuel pump relay/wiring? I guess I need to check my back up lights too, did you hook up the wiring for them? Haven't even thought about mounting the horns back on lol.

It was a insane mad dash!!! I'm happy the rushed portion of this is done. Now to clean up and finish little things.

Stock wiring to the pump, but aftermarket relay. I have a racetronic hotwire kit, but never installed as I was again kinda rushing. Yeah I thought about it for about 30 seconds while digging through my scrap pile to find something to make a bracket with, then said forget about it.

Grape jelly haha! Thanks man. I feel super good about, and looking back it really did happen pretty fast.

It would be amazing if my gauge worked correctly, as it will suck the tank dry with no notice, and you are stuck til you put fuel in. I have one two more events I plan on running stickered up, so yes I would love to have them. It might quench some of the exhaust questions. I had so many compliments on that after running the road coarse where it was turning 6K+ rpms for nice long stretch. Yes please!

Honestly I think I would wait until they come up with a better way of installing the mat to the bottom of the pump without the use of the length of hose I had to use. I'm having fuel gauge issues, and I can only imagine that somehow the float arm is making contact with the hose, even though I ran it around to the other side of the arm...

You've got a beautiful car. How does driving the LS1 compare to your LB9? Must be a lot of fun to hear that engine scream while you move through those gears.

Thank you! Its not really a fair comparison. The modded LS motor is an animal compared to the LB9. The torque comes on much higher in the curve than the LB9 so it actually seems to work out well in keep wheel spin from becoming too much of an issue on track. There were sections on the road course where I turned it into a drift section with ease, but it didn't make the car any faster in lap times. Wrapping the engine out to 6.25k rpms (still trying to be easy on it in its low miles) it pulls so hard up there and sounds amazing through that Hooker Blackheart exhaust.

Not much to update on the way the car is running. I've put a little over 100 miles on it since I have had it back from the track. I need to get back in and get the tune completely sorted. It runs hard, and pulls hard, but I know its rich at idle. The idle tune still needs help, but it may have been a physical issue we were attempting to tune out. I found the nut on throttle shaft for the cable attachment to be slightly loose and allowing a small amount of play... tightened up and seems better. I need to re-route the catch can as I'm sure its pulling in dirty air, I'm getting some blue smoke only on decell, and I think it being pulled in from vacuum.

I'm gonna spend a little time this weekend and try to take some pics of the neat detail type stuff that I didn't have a whole lot of time to show off before. Carbon fiber stuff, hand formed things, cool part stuff other people may want to use/ try in the future with their builds.

Had trouble with that too, I ended up tightening the nut with the throttle lever pulled up just a touch, so the spring pulled the slack back out. Took a couple tries. I think I'm gonna put another nut on the cable after it comes out. Too much at stake for that little set screw.

You know I did while the engine was on the stand. I spent the time to base/clear the coils so they would look amazing up top... but the more I looked at it, the less i liked it and started looking cluttered to me, so I started re-thinking the wheel. It was a strictly visual choice for me. I still have the brackets, but after cutting holes in that firewall I worked so hard on, it will never have external mounted coils...

If you want them I'll sell them. I upgraded the hardware to polished stainless button head bolts too

To fix this you'll need a dual catch can system with a can on the clean air side from the throttlebody to the valve cover and another one on the valley cover to the throttlebody. There's a couple companies that make nice black ones to blend in with the engine bay.

Yeah I have been looking into different catch can designs, but before I drop a couple hundered more on a entire different can set, up I'll get this one on correctly and see what it does. The Racetronix unit looks great for dual unit.

You mentioned that your valve covers were from Proform. Do they have internal baffling and PVC vents like the OEM covers do? Do you have any underneath pictures of the valve covers by chance? What did you run for your PVC set-up and did you see any PVC issues when you ran your car on the track? Catch can? Holley's LS valve covers have the same OEM style PVC and baffling in them but I really like the look of the Proform. However, if they lack said provisions, I might look elsewhere.

EDIT: I see in the pics above the PVC ports, that's good. Just need to find out of they have baffling.

They have baffles, but I don't have any pics of the underside of them to show the design or if they are better than oem or what? GM Performance has signed off on the design, so I can't imagine that they could be bad.

I have a catch can, and I need to re-route it as I said above I did have some issue pulling oil on a decel.
