Re: Where are all the sport coupes?

i see them occasionally on the road, they're not as common as the rs's and z's i see all the time. most all are ragged out bad though. we're starting to get a pretty good following here in macon/warner robins, ga though. i'm pretty pleased to say that i've gotten a chance to work on most of the nice ones around here too.

the folks that live around here that are on the boards are:
myself
ssean92
maroon88iroc
InfernalVortex
my roommate has a fairly nice 84 'berli but he's not on the board
and i'm sure there are more, but those are the only ones i can think of right now...

anyhow, i ***** my car out alot on the internet, but i'll post a couple anyhow:

newly installed ignition box, distributor and coil

specs/mods are in my vB garage

here's a pic of Kody's car (my roommate)

i didnt take that picture, seeing as i just bought the car last month from the user Frozer!!!

where i live i never see sport coupes. i'm pretty sure i'm the only one in town with one. well with this front bumper.

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?

I was watching Wayne's World the other day, the scene that I saw made me smile, which was when Wayne and Garth were playing hockey in the street as Wayne's ex-girlfriend gets distracted on her bike and crashes over a Camaro.

Those exact steelies and trim is what I got on my 1985 Camaro I just bought!

It made me smile seeing a sport coupe used in a movie

(Sorry for the size, but it's only picture I can find)

UPDATE: I looked at the photo with more detail and noticed there isn't a spoiler, but it is sporting the "sport rally" steel wheels with trim, which was only available to the base coupe. I would say, it's 100% sure it's a Sport coupe

I'm considering doing a sleeper as well, keeping the sport couple look, but hopefully pump out some serious horsepower. Here's a picture of my car when I was about to buy it:

Theres no need to bash the sport coupes. It does'nt matter if you got an I-ROC,RS,sport coupe or a Z-28, a camaro is a camaro. Were all in this together.

Hey finally some sport coupes. LOVE THEM more than the camaros with options.... I have an 85, i like it better than my 89 RS and my 91

Actually did our coupes come with anything besides a flat hood no FX or what out of curiousity

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?

These are some nice cars guys! Unlike the 3rd gen Firebirds, the Camaros look every bit as good without ground effects, as the Z cars with ground effects do. Its a more minimalistic, clean look. The 3rd gen F-birds w/out the TA gfx are a different story...

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?

No dude trust me your cars look great. I have an 83 Firebird and I had to put the 85-90 TA GFX on it just to be able to stand it. The Firebird w/ no ground effects has such a thin pointy nose that it makes the car look much higher off the ground than it is. The Formula treatment with the god awful huge granny bumperettes, plus no GFX, is the worst 3rd gen body setup, to me at least.

if ur looking for some sport coupes, just go to the junkyard

hahaha had to say it
Im sorry but its true. If you own a sport coupe, great job on the restoration that I have seen. Most are made into drag cars

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?

You think thats funny but I dont. Honestly I have never once seen a sport coupe at the junk yard. I see rs's and irocs but ive yet to see a coupe. I started this thread to see other sport coupes people have restored, not to have people talk trash.

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?

This thread has inspired me. I have always liked the sport coupes so I just went and bought the nose and rear bumper off of an '87. The GFX are coming off my '91!

You're going to have to weld up all the GFX mounting holes (please don't just bondo over them). Also hopefully there isn't too much rust under the GFX

Who knows, there are some other SC board members who havent posted on this thread yet either. Do you have any more pics of your car?

Re: Where are all the sport coupes?

Here is my 87 SC:

Only changes at the point that picture was taken is a 305 TPI engine swap and someone put a firebird spoiler on it.

I actually put a body kit from an 89 RS on it over the winter (still working on paint). I just like the look of the ground effects cars more.
