This 1983 Z28 Camaro is a factory no option car. No power windows, No power locks, No A/C and a T5 manual transmission. I have put second gen Z28 decals down the sides for a different look and had the camaro fabric installed down the middle of the seats. I have replaced or repaired what was needed in the interior and installed the deluxe package in the rear hatch area. Tires and wheels have been updated along with the front and rear brake assembly. I am in the process of hand scraping and power washing the underneath side of the car and preparing it to be painted. I am also going to update the sway bars, torque arm, panhard bar and contral arms while I am under there.
It's different... Kinda triggers my OCD. The monochrome paint kinda gives it the Iroc look, but then the 82-84 ground effects and hood... It's different.

It might have had one, I don't know. Like I said this was an E-bay purchase and it was a mess when it was delivered to me. I put that fan and shroud on the car. Another issue I experienced when i receieved it was the wire coming from the battery to the alternator was just dangling in the engine bay. I don't know how the thing didn't catch fire before it got to me. I will say one thing, pictures on ebay are very deceiving. This car was truly a mess in every aspect and I think it has come a long way and has been saved from being scrapped or parted out.
The interior color is briar brown, besides the carpet everything else is kind of hard to come buy. The strange thing about it is I had a 1984 Z28 that had the same color of interior a few years back.

Completely understand on the whole eBay thing. Pictures there can be very deceiving and always best to do your homework. Looks like you're giving the Z the TLC it deserves however!
Thanks. I remember when the car hauler pulled the Z28 off the trailer, I wanted to send it back but I knew I couldnt. Come to find out the guy I bought it from was a vo-tech teacher and his students painted and worked on the car. There was over spray on the inside of the car everywhere, I had to remove all of the interior and clean over spray off and also had to replace the new weatherstripping because of over spray and then had to re spray and clear the door jambs. Then I had to cut and buff and buff the paint. That was just the beginning, everthing they touched was damaged or broken. But it has come a long way.
That would have been hart breaking to see that happen. Good you didn't givr up on it. It's all worth it. At least now you'll know what has been done and what has to be done. I don't think there's a bolt on mine I haven't touched.

I couldn't even give away the brown interior from my 83 Camaro. Ended up painting the door sills and kick panels gray and used them in another car until I found a set of factory gray panels in nice shape. The painted ones are still in the attic. Pretty sure I still have the base model brown vinyl door panels, and all the interior panels aside from the spare tire cover, sunvisors, and headliner. I know the carpet eventually went in a dumpster, along with the seats. Got tired of moving them around. Think three or four sets of seats went in the trash that afternoon.
I suppose I should list the rest of the Brown stuff on Ebay as "RARE!" for hundreds of dollars.
Yes it is worth it when you look back at what you have improved but when it fights you along the way you kind of wonder sometimes. Panhard bar and control arms are next on my list, got to save up some cash.
Really dig this build. Keeping it diffrent while still staying true to factory with oem repop parts. Really like factory inspired builds. Kinda what I am trying to do.
Awesome! Really like it. LOVE the brown interior. Very retro, along with the 2nd gen stripes.
If I may make a suggestion? ....If it were mine, I'd remove the black/gold pinstripe that runs all the way around the car. To me it doesn't jive with the 2nd gen stripe.
Thanks for the compliment. I agree with you on the stripes but I went down that slippery slope already. When I purchased the car it had IROC decals on the bottom of both doors, I figured it wouldn't be a big deal to remove them but the previous owner cleared over them and it turned into a mess. Had to re do the clear on the bottom of both doors. Just another issue I had to deal with when I bought the car but its coming along. I cant wait for the car shows this summer, I entered it in one of the last car shows of last season and won second place in the camaro category. I was very surprised considering it wasn't even to my standards yet.
The main flack that you're going to get from me reading past posts is that you are allowing hot under hood engine heat into the carb making it inefficient. But if you feel better performance with it that way, cool.
Yah the second gen stripes surprised me too, I had designed a couple of custom Z28 stripes and I was going to have them printed out at a sign shop around here and my wife found these second gen stripes on line and the rest is history.
I've noticed that it appears that you have a regular cooling fan. Weren't the H.O. cars all electric fan powered? Or was that a later production thing.
I was informed by 1988 Iroc 5.7 that all L69 engines were equipped with an electric fan. I do not know if mine was equipped with one or not, there was half of a shroud that clearly did not belong to the car so the fan and shroud are from a junk yard around here. I did not see any electrical for an electric fan so I jumped on the opportunity to grab the fan and shroud in the junk yard. I also got the defrost cowl from the same car. Like I have said in previous posts, this car was a mess when I received it.
Btw, since you do have the regular fan on it, I can see how having the lid flipped won't matter with engine heat. I remember by old Nova used to blast a ton of cool air all over the engine bay. I miss that beige four door wonder with plaid factory cloth seating. LOL
Yep it has come a long ways. I haven't had any problems with engine temp, just the headers radiate a lot of heat into the interior. The dual snorkel helps also with cool air.
I added the dual snorkel set up on my car when I had the stock V type belt set up. When I switched to the serpentine belt set up, some items got in the way and I honestly haven't had the time to modify what I need to. So I went back to the stock single snorkel with a taller air filter lid and filter. As for header heat, I wanted to wrap mine or have someone make some tasteful heat shields that would look like they were meant to be there.
