Haven't been on here much lately but I do remember when you first started the prep and paint. I see it's pretty much complete and your taking it to shows, cool. This is def. one of my top 2 or 3 favorite early 3rd gen. Birdman I believe OP mentioned they were Year One 17" snowflakes earlier. Later.

Thanks! The tires are 275/40r17 in the back and 245/45r17 in the front. If I were to do it again, I'd go 275/40r17 all around. The wheels are 9" wide and the 275s fit perfect. the 245s look a bit "stretched" on them.

smoked GTA tails would be nice on that car... as would black gta birds on the sails and black bump strips on the doors. Of course, I'm a 2 tone freak

TA came out awesome. I really like the 84 Body style. I looked at one prior to buying my 85 TA.
Looking through the thread, theimpaler68 has the same TA as mine, but a 86 version. Really do not see many Trans Am's in my area with the same stripes. Good to know they are out there !!!
Good luck with the 84 TA

Even though I'm always partial to the Camaro's, this is a sweet T/A!

I love what you have done with the car. But the beige color your car started out as was a unique color combo I would of liked to have. Mad props tho.

I have to say I saw a GTA today with 15" wheels (long story) and the first thing that ALWAYS pops into my mind when I picture what a 3rd gen Pontiac should look like is this thread.
Best looking car on TGO, IMHO

I just finished clearing my driveway in a friggin blizzard and couldn't help but be very happy to see my Trans Am dry and resting in the garage. Here's a picture of the conditions outside (it's actually worse now, that picture was taken earlier this morning. And here's my Trans Am hanging out next to the snow blower and another picture I tried to take but the flash only saw my breath! I had to hold my breath to get a decent picture!

Good looking car. Love the color. This weather is crazy, was -8 last night. Took a cup of boiling water outside and threw it up in the air. Turned to snow before it started coming down. Wife showed me a news reporter doing it and I was skeptical. Sounded like one of those tall tales. Freaking worked.

Haha! My wife said she heard the same thing about the boiling water on facebook today and I didn't believe her either! I didn't try it though, maybe tomorrow.

It's for real. I'm no physicist but it has to have something to do with it being boiling. I tried with just hot tap water and it didn't work. I was all set to bet her $50 on it, reconsidered it though.

I probably should cover it, but I haven't been able to pull the trigger on buying a really good car cover. And I figure it's better to not cover it than have a cheap cover scuff the paint. So it gets a bath in the spring. I had it up on jack stands last winter to avoid flat spots, but I didn't get it up on stands yet this year. I'll try to get it up on stands soon if there's a break in the weather.

Re: My 1984 Trans Am is Finally repainted in Platinum! Lots of pics!
Here are some pictures of the interior. I obviously still have some trim pieces to install.
The dash assembly is from a 1990 bird. I painted the guage surround black and installed polished aluminum trim rings that I picked up a number of years ago.
I decided to go with a Camaro center console. It wasn't a direct fit... it was a bit too tall in the front to fit under the switch plate on the firebird dash. I had to do some trimming to the switch plate and the top of the camaro console to get them to fit. I used an old sun faded upper console for now because i'm going to experiment with some cup holder options. Once I've set what I'm doing, I have a mint condition upper console with no holes to swap in and cut for switches and the cupholder. I also need a new shifter boot and I'm going to install my line lock controls on the shift plate before respraying it black.
The carpet right now is from a 4th gen. I'd like to buy a new carpet for next year, but it might get pushed out longer. It's funny how the flash really makes certain flaws stand out. I'm going to pick up some new black hex screws tomorrow to replace the rusted ones in the steering wheel.
I also want to put a silver firebird emblem as the horn button and have some ideas for an embroidered leather piece to replace the map pocket. This interior stuff is gonna take a while to finish up. there are so many details!

Thanks guys. The aluminum trim rings were from a board member here many years ago who doesn't make them any more. There might be others making similar trim rings now. As for the cost, the paint and body work were in the neighborhood of $6,000, but there was much more than body and paint work to get it where it is now.

It’s a Wings West spoiler based on the Firebird 500 spoiler. He stated that in his classified ad he’s got up for this car:
