Didnt think it would fit either thats why I have a mast pan. Thing looks like it belongs in there how tight of a fit it is.

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too

fabbed new fuel lines that run through the SFC for protection and with armoring around where it's exposed. uses a bulkhead on both sides to hook to soft lines

installed my driveshaft, it's a tight fit and uses a 1350 yoke. This will not break.

I'm using a C6 power steering pump and pulley for easy access to the bolts. Biggest problem is getting a line on it. i fabbed an an line but with the pulley on the B nut on the hose end runs into the pulley ugh... So, time to fab a short hard line adapter.

Result:

Took some careful bending on a stock return line to get that to fit

next is the cooling setup, i'm using a C5 radiator that's an almost exact fit. All it takes it drilling a hole for the locator stud/drain port. The C5 dual fan setup will work also but my acumulator is in the way, Otherwise it would have fit beautifully. I may move the accumulator a bit and use the C5 fans if the single spal is too weak.

Nice shot from underneath

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too

Looking good! Nice job on the hard line adapter for the PS pump... TIG welding the thin steel tubing to the nut is not fun i know.

Got any shots of the C5 rad and dual fan setup? I was looking for a better fan/rad combo and had to shoe horn in a 31x19 AFCO SBC Fabbed rad with dual 1" cores and running a new aftermarket chevy traverse fan which fits 100% of the core like a glove and its not that deep (dual 13" fans). But knowing that the C5 rad with OE fans would have fit would have been way easier. Any idea if the single core Rad will be enough cooling capacity for the boosted LS motor? My Afco keeps my engine temps where I set them so I wont downgrade but it would be good info to have.

I'm not running boosted, just carbed. I do have a buddy for whom i built a supercharged C5 and he runs the stock radiator without issues. the weather however is a lot colder here.

just needs a wee bit of trimming on the drivers side fan shroud because of the steering box

I even used the lower C5 radiator hose. Have to use what you have with no parts availability ;0
