1991 Gunmetal GTA with a Firehawk heart
I've been on this site for close to a decade and only now noticed this section. I have a 1991 Gunmetal Grey Trans Am GTA. 1 of 98 built in 1991 in this color. I got her in August of 2000 with 37,500 miles. She now has 61,500 miles on her. She started life as a 350/Auto car, but is now a 350/T56. My theme when building this car was to be able to destroy a stock SLP Firehawk yet look as close to factory stock as possible. She does have the SLP Catback and single inlet CAI, but what's more special is that she also has an SLP T-RAM - possibly the last NOS piece that Summit sold. Here's some pics:

SUPER nice car, and a great stance. Hard to top a gunmetal '91 GTA, especially with all the goodies you've put in.
Two thumbs way up, keep 'er looking nice.

I like the car, always loved the gunmetal grey color. Is the motor still a stock L98 with just the SLP T RAM intake? Or did you do internal work as well. Regardless its very awesome.

Thanks for the compliments guys. 1989formulakid, the L98 is a stock shortblock topped off with Trickflow 195 heads with a beehive spring valvetrain and comp cams 1.6 pro magnum roller rockers rockers. Cam is a TPIS ZZ409 grind. The T-RAM also received some custom port work before going on there to flow more air. The motor paired with a lightweight flywheel and Spec 3 clutch is a pretty nasty combination. I like it a lot so far.

Are you still running the factory struts up front?

Factory, no, but the struts are obviously tired. I beleive the previous owner said he had them replaced with Monroes. The car was never really driven much and was actully in storage for 5 years too. She'll be getting Koni Yellows in a couple of weeks. The Konis are already installed in the rear. I was just waiting to get either 1LE or LS1 brakes to put on there so I could get it done in one shot.

It's a great idea to do all the struts/brakes at the same time. Saves you a lot of time doing springs and all that. You ought to look into the Hotchkis lowering springs while you're at it. You're liable to end up looking like a 4x4 with factory springs all the way around and Koni yellows, especially with aluminum heads and a T56 all saving weight off the front.
You'll notice a huge improvement getting away from the Monroe struts. I had new Monroes on my old '87 T/A, and they were tired from the day I put them on.

Beautiful bird! You must've been nervious driving on all that loose gravel, but it made for some cool pictures. I really love the last picture you posted along the beach.

Super nice car and I love the color as well. I think I have had more dark gray vehicles than any other color.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Sadly though, she is making a trip to the body shop. Neighbor of mine backed into her in my apartment building's garage with a minivan. Ruined the driver's side door and caused about $1200 in damage. I need to move out to the midwest already... someplace where people don't live on top of each other so cr*p like this doesn't happen.

No, but I'm still mad at the fact that she has original paint and my neighbor parked in a spot that he wasn't supposed to. He doesn't even pay for parking, my super let him park there for free. When you pay $150/month for parking, it's expected that things like this don't happen. Ah well, he paid for the damage at least.
