Re: "Garage Find" 1987 Formula Firebird
I had a similar fuel delivery problem in my '83 TA and it ended up being a wire connection. I checked and checked & everything looked good but no power to the pump. There is an electrical connection under the dash on the driver side with like 6-8 terminals one of them was a grey sender wire for the pump. Turned out just that one connection was corroded enough to break the signal. I cleaned up the terminal and everything worked again. Not sure how late 80s birds are wired but worth checking if you've done everything else.

Re: "Garage Find" 1987 Formula Firebird
Here is the latest update on the Firebird.
I finally isolated the starting issues to the TPS and the carburetor accelerator pump.
After replacing both, the car now starts up every time!
Just need to get the carb tuned in as it idles fine in park at 1250 rpm's, runs rough one I put in in drive at about 650 rpm's.
Any suggestions on this out there?

Today's update:
The starter has died, and tired of beating my head against a carburetor.
So I will update when I replace both.
Thanks to everyone for the input!

Cars that sit for a long time can often be a pain in the butt for awhile. I've done the same thing many times- because I' too stubborn to learn my lesson.
Nice car- great deal- you'll get there, keep the faith!

Great deal for the car but there is always something annoying that kicks you in the butt.
Will be following updates on your progress and looking forward to the pictures when you get the car finished and on the open road again.
Enjoy

Oil changed to Mobil One
Carburetor rebuilt
Mechanical and electric fuel pumps replaced.
Hoses and belts replaced
Fuel pump relay replaced
