It's the battery box. I may have done it differently than SLP did but this is how they did it for the Firehawks

So much cool stuff Tony! Thanks for sharing the photos.
So I'm following along pretty well....but what are the aluminum boxes on the floor behind the front seats?
Is the Racetronix pump what was originally used, or an equivalent?
Passenger strut tower to rail brace...I thought that was an IROC only thing. Under what conditions did the Firebirds get them?

The base bird and formula bumper cover has a plastic insert that covers the empty spot where the fog lights would go. So if someone wanted to add fog lights, they can with very little work. I have a NOS set of the inserts.

Fun fact of the day, the aluminum hood has different part numbers for the hood struts and popup spring than the steel hoods.

Re: "it" has begun....
Had started stripping the original paint off is why it looks crappy.
The hoods were made for part of 1 yr maybe? They weigh 21lbs, stock formula hood is around 50lbs? IIRC. Most of the aluminum hoods have a large A reverse stamped in the bottom, for some reason, this one does not.

Re: "it" has begun....
I haven’t been a member on this forum for very long but over the past couple of days have begun to explore a bit. This morning I located this thread, and haven’t been able to leave it, this stuff is SO up my alley. If you’re a 3rd gen, or for that matter any auto enthusiast, TTOP 350 is doing exactly what we all wish we could be doing. Those pics of his work environment just wreak of a place many of us wanna be, all the time.I did notice the requisite reference to time spent with the family, something I can identify with.Tony, you are obviously a true 3rd gen warrior.Very interesting, and I also look forward to following this thread to where we get a look at the end result.

Right now I'd be grateful for dry weather, it seems to never stop raining long enough to dry out for any car activities here in the south.

I keep checking back here for some progress, I thought you - like me - would be all over it while the weather prevents driving.... no progress? Or are you holding out? What's new?

Re: "it" has begun....
With this thing it's really hard to find a lot of the correct small parts, like bolt markings and correct vintage fittings. Some of the rubber vac fittings are very hard to find. Have had to order some of the fittings and parts from 5-6 different places to find enough of the old stock to complete "the look". The behind the scenes hunt and prep is really fun but also just as stressful as the actual build. There are so many little things that were changed from the factory cars and or different from car to that its mind bending. I am working on about 20 plus different things all at once so it should come together fast when the time comes.

You gotta a helluva parts collection there! I'm curious on the spindles, been meaning to ask this question for a long time. Did GM paint these? Mine appear to have some gun metal grey on them, but haven't really put them under a microscope (yet)

99% sure GM didn't paint them, However, even though they didn't need it, I did clean and paint these, they are a complete set of low mile 1989 1LE brakes.
