Help/Advice: Thinking of taking a job in the Stafford/Quantico Area

I currently own a house (family, 5m/o twins...) in Laurel, MD, and I'm thinking that between the traffic and the distance (1.5 hours drive without traffic) that I'm going to need to move. In the short term, I'm thinking about an appartement _or something_ (I don't know what) that I can "camp out at during the week since the hours at the new job will not be that flexible and I don't want to try to fight >2 hours of beltway traffic while I'm tired (probably need to buy another car also, but that's down the list some). To add to the problem, my family, friends... are all in MD, probably the closest will be northern Montgomery County and Frederick.

Anyone have suggestions/ideas:
  • where to find the temporary place (not sure how long temporary will be and _really_ would like someplace, well I would be very happy with a garage).
  • what kind of place I would look for for a temporary place
  • where to look for a house
  • anything else I need to consider before saying yes
  • anything else I need to consider when looking?
Thanks

I saw your other post on the cars, so here are some thoughts/observations:

- the more off the beaten path, the better hiding/storage for cars. Garrisonville (where I got my 78 from) has some nice candidates and is still near civilization.

- self storage, hey it's been done

- Places to live..... Frericksburgish, maybe Rt17 exit

- it's a common law state, in other words their shizz is stupid in ways the MD isn't, and vice vera.

-in regards to other thread, my 69 has been decorating my back yard for a few yrs w/o plates (here comes the jinx) and no issues, but then I do live in So MD.....

The Woodbridge/Dumfries area is fairly convenient to Stafford/Quantico. The commute is against traffic. The Montclair area is nice if you're looking for a house. I live near Rt. 234/Spriggs Road and can get to most places on Quantico within 15/20 minutes.

In my humble opinion you would be better to rent a room somewhere down there for a while, check Craigslist. then search for a more permanent place while there.
