5th Annual Michigan FBody Meet & Greet 2009

What: 5th Annual Michigan FBody Spring Meet & Greet 2009
Price: $4 Entry Fee into Kensington Metro Park, Show is FREE!!
Date: May 30th, 2009
Time: 7am to 4pm
Location: Kensington Metropark, Milford, MI
Address: 2240 W. Buno Road, Milford, MI 48380-4410
Park Location: Maple Beach

Introduction:
That's right guys and girls, it's already time to start planning for 2009's show season! With the beginning of 2009 already here, we're posting the information early to give you plenty of time to mark your calendars! The staff of MiFbody.com have decided to make the first Saturday after Memorial Day our yearly event date. This will make it easier for people to plan for the event for years to come as well as make it easier for us, the staff, to organize it! Last year, even with an overwhelming prediction of showers and the subsequent downpour at the show, we still were grateful for the large turnout we encountered! Over 150 vehicles showed up - still growing larger every year! This year, we're pushing for 175 Fbodies. Last year's outcome was purely the result of rain predictions - hopefully this year we can stay dry this year like we have in years past! Can we make it to our goal of 175 FBodies? Only with your help! So mark your calendars and register for the Meet & Greet today!

Food and Beverages:
Again for 2009, we are not going to have a Potluck style and are going to be using a concession stand service! We will have a concession stand at our location that will have a whole bunch of different items to eat! If you prefer to not rely on their services, though, please plan to bring your own lunch! A menu will be made available as we get closer to the event - we won't have the vendor firmed up until a few months before due to the vendor being supplied by Kensington Metro Park. As always, alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the picnic, and anyone caught drinking will be asked to leave the picnic.

Registration:
As most of you might remember from previous years, filling out the registration forms the day of the event can be overwhelming! To register for the event - you have your choice of two forms! We have partnered with Motortopia to help advertise our event and they offer an online registration form! We have also created a version of their registration form on our website as well! You can register at either one of the two links below, but please make sure you register at one of them!

http://www.mifbody.com/vbulletin/new...p?do=meetgreet
http://www.motortopia.com/events/vie...ody_meet_greet

General Plans for the Meet & Greet:
The Meet & Greet, as a tradition, is a casual meet up to hang out and have fun! The event's host website (MiFbody.com) is still growing at an exponential rate, and there's still a lot of names that we know from the community but we don't have a face to place with the name. The Meet & Greet was created in 2005 to put faces to the user names on the site. The whole point is to meet new people, hang out, show off our own cars and check out each other's cars! Over the years, we've grown to include the entire FBody community not only in Michigan but in neighboring states and Canada! Our goal is not directly meant to promote our website - but more to promote the FBody community as a whole and encourage the community to establish friendships with people in the area with the same passion for the cars we own! The Meet & Greet is MiFbody.com's way to try and give back to the community by having a yearly show to look forward to.

50/50 Raffle:
Last year we had a 50/50 raffle with great results! This year, again, we will be having a 50/50 raffle! So bring your money and make some cash to pay off the gas you used to get to the event!

Please note that the cruise to Woodward is completely independent of the Meet & Greet - although a tradition for some. The meet will be considered finished directly after the short Awards ceremony. Please make arrangements on your own if you plan to cruise to Woodward after the Meet & Greet

Re: 5th Annual Michigan FBody Meet & Greet 2009

Just a dumb question but is this for all f-bodies? My car is by no means in show quality form yet (although it may be painted by may) but I live 40 minutes away and would love to attend!

Hey Darren - definitely is for all FBodies! New, old, beater, project, rusted out, show quality. We all love FBodies and that's what we're there for.

Sweet thats great to hear! I have recently purchased my 1992 Camaro RS 25th Anniversary so I am new to this site and the F-Body world. My car needs work but I wouldnt consider it rusted out or show room quality somewhere in between but like I said I am only 40 minutes away so I'll be there! If I fill out the registration form online do I just pay the day of the event and is that per car or per person? Sorry for all the newbie questions but thats what I am a newbie!

Thanks,

Darren

I'm about 5 hours away, but I've made the trip to the Woodward cruise in my firebird the past two years. I can say now that theres about a 99% chance you will see me there. Sounds awesome!

I LOVE the woodward cruise, I am actually 2 blocks from woodward and attend it every year. I actually have to work it most of the time since I work for the City of Pleasant Ridge and we put on a few events But I still make a few trips up and down woodward and I get to see all the cars as well so its all and all not a bad day!

I think i would love to live that close. I've been to the cruise 4 times in total, including the year of the blackout. Right now i'm still trying to figure out who all is bringing their cars up for it this year so i can get the rooms booked asap. I'm also trying to get a few people to come up for this event. It may end up being a last minute thing for some.

Honestly I loved the year of the blackout, it was still all about cruising! I have been going to the dream cruise every year since the start. Granted I was 7 or 8 when the first one started but I remember cruising woodward in my dads 69 Camaro SS weeks before the cruise and early saturday morning! Now that I have my camaro I cant wait until the Cruise and this event as it will be the first one I'll be able to attend with my new baby!

It's a blast. I wasn't even there for the full time last year, but it was so much fun.

The reason I wasn't able to stay was cause I was kinda graduating that day... HAHA

Eh, did you really need to be there. I think you still get the paperwork to prove you did it. haha I'm still in the planning stages of the trip. Haven't figured out if anyone else from my area is coming along for the trip. Once i figure that out i'll probably book a hotel room for the weekend and go from there. Even if i have to come alone i should be there.

Glad to see you're trying to go. I haven't figured out when i'm leaving yet. Probably trying for Friday afternoon and come back Sat. night or Sun morning. I'm hoping Orr's car is done by then. Maybe we can all cruise up together. That could be interesting.

Is there a deadline for registration? In asked for that Saturday off and my boss told me to wait till it gets closer and ask again, so I may not know until the week of the show. Also is it ok if I copy this posting and put it up on chicago-wolfpack.com? Northern IL f-body club.

If you're willing to fill it out, I'd ask that you fill out the form regardless of whether or not you know you'll be there. Registration is free, so it's just a matter of filling out the form. That way if you can go you're all set. I'd rather have more registered that end up not going than people that show up but didn't pre-register. Just makes life easier at the show - you drive in, I thumb through the pile, pull your info out, hand it to you, and you're all done.

And for Chicago-wolfpack.com - definitely welcome to post it over there, or if you'd like I'll register and post over there. There's actually a handful of people talking about coming from Illinois throughout the other websites that I've posted this on so if more people from Chicago want to go I'm sure there can be some sort of convoy set up.

That would be awesome. I'll post it up when I get home from work if I don't see it already posted by you. And I'll fill out one of the forms for sure. Sounds like a fun weekend and I'm sure the rest of the NI guys would wanna go.

Re: 5th Annual Michigan FBody Meet & Greet 2009

Illinois is definitely representin'!

Our preregistrations have been tallied and updated!

We now have the following numbers by state:
Illinois: 5
Ohio: 2
Pennsylvania: 2
Indiana: 1
Michigan: 123

AB-SOL-LUTELY humbled by the showing of support from the surrounding states. I had never dreamed that our show would extend attendance outside of Michigan and am absolutely excited to make this year our best year yet!

Very cool - looking forward to meeting all of you Illinois guys. My dad was born and raised in Quincy, Ill along the Mississippi so I've driven through Illinois quite a few times over the years.

Wow - that's going to look GREAT! Your hood looks familiar. And I like the black stripe you're doing.
