Re: Car Craft Street Machines Nationals
This show was always the mother of all hotrod/street machine shows in the country and judging by the fact there are already next to no hotel rooms left in southern Illinois for this event it appears another epic show is in the making ........we have our Hotel in Mt Vernon which IMO always had the best night cruising/party during the show weekends

I was really young when it ended(5), but my father has talked about it alot through the years. I read about it and the first thing I did was call him. I will hopefully be attending with my TA. If it cant make it I will still be going. Im excited since it is the first year it is back and basically the first car show my car will attend. Even though it isnt a "show car" by any means.

We need to get a 3rdgen.org banner up so we all could see it on the grounds and maybe all park close to each other..

Re: Car Craft Street Machines Nationals
I went several times in the past, first in my 76 Monte, then my 73 Mustang Convertible. We just booked our hotel rooms in Carbondale. I am putting in a new engine and I don't think it will be done in time but we will be on the strip someplace. Where were people going toward the end? When I went the first time it was ALL in DuQuion, then next year it was LAME cruisin in DUQuoin, I thought everyone went to Carbondale.

We pretty much stayed in the campground at the fairgrounds, and they didn't hassle anyone until it started getting late. Some of the people who went into town said there were more cops than people.

I didn't enter my car but it was parked out in the lot. I showed up Saturday for a couple hours and saw a few thirdgens there. Didn't find that many owners around them but did talk to DD9transam I believe, never did ask him what his username was just asked if he was on here. Had a great time and next year I plan on bringing my car and spending a lot more time there! Maybe even enter the burnout contest.

How was the cruising in Mt Vernon saturday night. I got a migraine and went home instead of checking out the action in town.

Ya same here...sorry we left as fast as we did was hoping to run into you later to talk more. Cruising in Mt Vernon was almost non existant.....people were out in their lawn chairs and the cops were being very cool but hardly any cars were cruising....from what I hear the cruising sucked everywhere which is odd for having 3000+ cars in the area for the show, going to have to figure that one out for next year

Sorry I didn't see this until now. I only live about 15 miles from DuQuoin myself and went all 3 days ... all day long ... as a spectator only. Well, just until it started raining Sunday. Got in the car and it started about the time we left.
flrtin1 - I saw you there but never realized you were on this board or I'd have stopped to say hey ... but you were doing a LOT of cruising from what I seen ... Nice ride dude !!!
Yeah I'll be there next year if I have to rent a wheelchair ... LoL I used to go to it back in the 80's so I'm an old fart ... but I loved every second of it like a kid in a candy store !!!
I predict a HUGE turnout for next year ...
