Cruise to the Peoria area to hang with QwikTrip
Hey everyone!
I'm heading for a cruise out to the Peoria area to meet up with QwikTrip. I live halfway between Chicago and Rockford in a Northwest Suburb of Chicago called Huntley. I'm planning on going down on Saturday, August 25th and would like to get there before noon and hangout and meet all of you. For me, it's about a 3 hour trip roughly to get to Peoria and I plan on taking my 88 IROC for its first long road trip since I've owned it. Jon (aka QwikTrip) will chime in with a good place to eat and fill up with gas where we can all hang out. Is anyone interested in driving along with me?

If you want to stay close to freeway then there are a whole bunch of restaurants and fast food at Exit 95 on I-74, East Peoria near the riverfront. Most have tight parking though (strip mall style). But I can make a suggestion once we get a better idea how many cars are in the caravan.
If it's a small group then I'll probably guide you closer to my house where we can really relax and not worry about keeping an eye on our cars.
Either way, the 'Bird is coming out to make some noise.

Sweet! I'm hoping that we will have a bunch of people even if they don't come down from my direction. I'd really like to meet the people on here and have a small car show of sorts.

Nice meeting you today, Go Blue. I think other people would enjoy watching your journey with the IROC if you made a thread. One of many different cool cars you've owned! (40 different cars?)

It was great meeting you as well QwkTrip! You have an awesome Firebird and I hope your back allows you to keep working towards your goal with that new engine! I will definitely vouch for the engine that he's considering selling. Fast is not the word for it!! That bird hauls a** with that engine!! I loved every second of that ride!!
Yes, I've owned over 40 cars in my life and each one has been fun in its own way. This is the first time that i've had the luxury of having a project car that isn't a daily driver and i'm enjoying bringing it back to life after being forgotten about for 6 years in a barn. I'll start a thread here shortly but I want to get some engine compartment pics as it sits now since it has gone under some major changes since I bought it.
I'm hoping that at some point, maybe not this Summer/Fall that we can get a gathering of local (used subjectively as anyone is really welcome) people from here together and either sit and talk about them, show them off, or work on them if someone needs help and just get to know everyone. Not sure how easy that would be, but I'd be happy with a gathering in Illinois once I get to the point where I trust my Camaro to drive a little farther.
