I am strongly considering going to this event his upcoming weekend and I was wondering if anyone else was interested? I know that there are other local car shows and races at Island Dragway, but I hardly make it out to Maple Grove anymore, and since I missed the Pro-Mod event a few weeks ago, I want to try to get there for this.

It is basically a smaller, tamer version of the Super Chevy Show that used to exist there years ago. About 15 years ago the Super Chevy shows were big and some really awesome cars would show and race. I know the turnout has decreased, but it isn't horrible.

Anyways, here is the info. I will probably just be showing the car since I have a hurt rear differential...and I will be drivintg the car to and from NJ to PA.

I will be there on saturday!!! Not putting my car in but will be driving her there. Just finished waxing her right now. Hope to see more third gens there.

sounds great! I hope to be arriving there tomorrow(saturday) around 11:30 or noon. I am driving the car from northern NJ. If all goes well, I will be staying for both days of the event, and then driving the car home Sunday late afternoon. see ya around! I'll have the red 1987 IROC that will be in the car show portion, probably in the Modified 3rd gen category

Usually you are able to just show up the day-of and pay the show fee to enter. It typically is only about $10 more than normal spectator fee, and if you already have your car there, it makes sense to do so. ( To me, it would be better/safer event parking too!)

I am leaving Nj in 30 mins. should be about a 3 hour drive with a few stops along the way .

Hey man, was nice to meet ya! I had a good time both days. Even though it did rain Sunday morning, cars were still there. IT was certainly less of a turnout that day due to the rain, but oh well. After about 90 mins once the rain sopped, they had the racetrack dry and cars were running. They did the awards earlier on (around 1pm? instead of 3pm) and Menards did something different.. they gave everyone who stuck out the rain storm with their car still out on the show field an award.. so basically everyone got an award. This is because they did the judging portion DURING the rain (wearing ponchos and umbrellas etc) and most doors, hoods, trunks were closed. So yea, I got an award plaque, but so did everybody!

I took a BUNCH of photos, and if I can find some time soon, I will upload some here, and provide a link to the full album.

I had a great trip from start to finish. This has been the first "big" trip of the calendar year for me and the car and everything worked perfectly. Which is a big deal for e since this winter I had the transmission out, driveshaft out, full rear axle housing out, rear suspension out, exhaust system out, and the fuel tank out; and a big 340lph pump with bigger fuel lines added, engine bay wiring cut and rerouted, and MSD box repaired so the engine bay could be painted, swapped to a 4th gen coolant overflow tank, better street alignment, etc etc. So aside from the normal 20-30 mile drives I have been doing... this one was 309 miles in two days.. and everything worked great! I know my rear diff is on its way out, so I wasn't doing any hard street launches or burnouts, and it is holding in there still (hopefully until wintertime)

I have been busy, so it took me a while to upload the 500ish photos I took over the two day even. Sorry about that.

The event was good. I drove out there early Saturday morning and had absolutely no issues with the car, not a stumble, no high temps, no drivetrain noise.. nada. Did have to swerve around the piles of horse poop in the road out in that area of PA. Also, some of those roads are real fun at putting my suspension to work!

I just did the show portion of the event since the car is not nearly fast enough to contend with the caliber of drag cars that were there.. even in the true-street class. So I parked, give it a wipe down, and walked the show field for an hour or so after I registered. The rest of the day I watched racing (4 nostalgia nitro funny cars, the Jet truck, and a great assortment of 7,8, 9, 10, 11 second Chevrolet vehicles) which went until about 5pm. Also chatted with a lot of people while walking around and on the show field. Stayed overnight at my grandmothers house (about 45 mins away). Came back Sunday, and after I got there it began pouring rain! many cars were already parked, some left (?? no idea why.. they were already wet?!) but I'm sure th rain deterred a bigger crowd. Once the track was dried, racing resumed and it made for a fun day. The Menards staff did something different, and everyone who braved the rain and kept thiir car out in the wet grass got an award and a jacket. I ended up leaving around 4:30 and drove on home. Car performed great again. All in all I put 309 miles on the car in those two days and enjoyed the seat time.
