Sacto area muffler shop recommendation?

Can anyone please make a recommendation for a muffler shop in the east-Sacramento area who will do custom exhaust. One of the local guys seems to be way out of line on price and I want to know who is good and won't try to fleece me. Thanks.

Hi Tremo,

I don't live in Sac, but here in Fresno I paid around $300 for a new hi-flow cat and 3" exhaust back to the muffler. I already had a flowmaster in the back. That should give you some idea.

Thanks, but this is actually for my wife's Escort wagon. I already have a hi-flo cat (new in the box), the flexpipe and the tip. All the muff shop needs to supply is the pipe and a hi-flo muffler, bend the pipe and weld it all up. They're quoting $350 to $400, which to me seems way high. If it's for stainless with manderl bends, that might be in line, but for regular pipe with crush bends, forget it.

You can get Carsound (made by Magnaflow) cats at www.performance-curve.com by mailorder, and they're CHEAP. I paid $50 for the Escort's new cat. Camaro cats are about $80. Muffler shop wants $150. Same place sells Magnaflow mufflers for ablout half what a muffler shop wants. The local shops are out to fleece. I want to deal with someone who is competitive.

Check out Muffler Tech. They have a shop on Madison & Auburn Blvd along with another one in South Sac.
