Flexplate

My starter went out on the gta, so I bought a GMPP mini-starter from summit and in the process of taking it out I looked at the flexplate and saw that most of the teeth on one side were all chewed up. So now I need a new flexplate but I don't know what size to get a 153 or a 168 tooth?

Did some research and I'm going to get a 153 tooth flexplate but I'm wondering if a 3000 stall converter is too much for my car? With having to change the flexplate I figured I would change out the converter and rebuild the tranny.

I thought you were selling your GTA, no?

Here's a quick read for you in regards to selecting a torque converter since you're doing some research.
Not sure if you know how they work and it's always good to know what you're buying instead of just slapping something in because it's "bigger".

http://www.hardtail.com/techtips/sel...converter.html

Note the guidelines at the bottom.

1. Your peak torque on a stock TPI is around 3200rpm, so choose accordingly.
4. Get a tranny cooler if you're going bigger.

Hope that helps.

If your motor is stock I would say that 3k is probably a bit much. You shouls also get a transmission cooler as Del said!!!

I found the stall speed i need for car my car but i don't know what brand to go with. I don't want to spend the money on a weak converter.

TCI, B&M and SLP are always a good choice.

I was looking at the b&m with a 2000 stall speed but when I look at what other people say on this board they say the b&m and tci converters are crap but i've always liked b&m's products.

That looks like a pretty good deal to me.
