Best of luck on your project,

BTW, if your dash pad needs replacing, I have a very nice 85-92 'Bird pad for sale ($125 pick up in Lawrence). See Craigs List, Lawrence, for pics/info.

Re: Third Gens in Kansas?
Welcome Sloblu, hopefully your car will still be street legal and run those times Im trying to get mine deeper into the 10's since it finally broke a 10.90 last summer, and it is still street legal. If you ever come down and race at K.I.D. here in Wichita be sure you post in here, maybe i will see you out there.

James- not new to the area been around northeast Kansas most of my life. just never made it out to any get togethers since I am always racing during the spring, summer, fall.
Slush- Thanks, I intend on coming down to KID for the national open in October this year with it. also its street legal anymore, I had my fun with it on the street. now I just want to race it. plus I have another car im building for the street it is a 68 mercury cougar and it will have a carbureted LS3 in it with a sequential 4-speed behind it.

Just checking in, I'm in the wichita area and just picked up a 91 RS roller and ls1 w/t56 to put in it. Will try to hit local shows to check out others cars that actually move on their own.

Its good to see some are still active on here, and fellow Kansans as well. Unfortunately i just bought a place so I havent been able to dedicate much time to my 91 Z, I believe head gaskets are giving up the ghost.

Re: Third Gens in Kansas?
Im honestly at the point where everything else has been rebuilt or modified other then the powerplant. I luckily have a heated garage, plentiful 220v outlets, tunes, etc. Im setting at 116000 miles, so a rebuild or all out LS swap is being debated. Love my TPI but im ready for more power.

Re: Third Gens in Kansas?
I'm not entirely sure. The accelerator was sticking enough so that the carb wouldn't drop to idle without a tap or two. I squirted the linkage with carb clean and as an afterthought sprayed some down the throat of the carb. Now the car won't run smoothly and the carb's developed some leaks here and there. Unfortunate, because last spring/summer I'd completed Sofa's holley tune and the car was running better than it ever had. I may simply replace the carb with what's on it (600 vac secondary) or go the DP route. I'm undecided at this point. Frankly I need to fire it up again and see what happens. Ah, old cars. Ain't they a hoot in the butt!

Street Demon, how do you like your 6.0? I would rather up the displacement with the 6.0 rather then the typical 5.3 or 5.7/LS1 swap.

In all honesty it's probably overkill for what I use it for. Car traps mid-teens at Heartland Park, at 3660lb race weight that is 422rwhp. Equivalent to 500+ crank hp.

Re: Third Gens in Kansas?
Anything that sits frequently with a carb on it is gonna be a pain. When mine sat for more than a few weeks without starting it, it loaded up, grunted, snorted, farted until I ran a little Seafoam additive in it. Now it can sit for a few months and start like it should even with the big ol bumpstick that's in it. We sell a lot of the Seafoam additive here at my shop. It is an absolutely amazing product.

James...side note. Once you get your carb lined out, try running 2-4 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil to 10 gallons of fuel. It will help lubricate the parts in your fuel system and keep the carb cleaned out.

Re: Third Gens in Kansas?
Love the power, car has a nice flat torque curve with the F13 cam. If I had it to do over again I would have left it an automatic though. It's fun rowing the gears, but a stalled automatic is just as fun and doesn't require cutting holes in the car!

Sloblu92 - That wouldn't happen to be your car in JTRC for tubs would it? I am out there every other week or so keeping tabs on a friends project (the old Studebaker in the corner). If this is your car I stop every time I am out and admire the your car, a much nicer starting point for a car then mine.
Good luck racing this season.

Don't mean to bust your bubble, but if you still have your CC q-jet, it's the better carb over the Edelbrock.
If you're just looking for beauty, though, I suppose the Edelbrock is okay.

Yeah if the quadrajet is tuned right then yeah I can see that but there so damn temperamental. That's the most irritating thing about them. Edelbrock is just easier and looks a lot better. Especially with that performer intake to match it lol

when properly drained and stored you can pull them off a shelf after 15 years and they will work just as well as they did before. closest you can get to fuel injection with a carb. most don't like them because they are "complicated", all relative to what you know i guess. give me a q-jet any day!

Wow. Haven't seen too many of us Kansans on here. If you guys in and around Topeka want to get together this spring sometime I would come over from OP. I haven't run into anyone here in town in over 3 years that has a 3rd Gen. I've only seen 9 or so driving around in the last year. 4 last month around Christmas. 2 were convertibles!

Thirdgens are getting to be a rare beast apparently. The ones I see are generally ratted out and gasping their last breath.
Couldn't tell the color of the Convertibles. One I saw at night on 635 the other was covered in salt!

Re: Third Gens in Kansas?
One of these days I will be in the same boat. Since mine is the 5.0 LB, I will probably go for the upgrade. I was thinking the LS 5.3. I will change out to the new tranny as well when I do. For now, I'm glad to still have it on the road. At least I will once the salt stops being thrown down on the road. I drive mine 100 miles round trip 3 days a week to work, when the weathers right. I figure I will run this drivetrain until it has a major problem, then change over.

Hey, I was wondering if there was anybody out there that lived in Kansas. I know there are a few that live in Topeka, but I don't know if they're aware of this Forum. If there are, just let me know where you're located. I live in Topeka KS, in case anybody was wondering.

I'm out of Salina. My 92 Camaro Convertible has been a trailer queen back and forth to KC. I had a shop swap motors and now we are plagued with a gremlin of sorts. Electronic issues.
