Re: anybody from Montana out there
Sorry Im not from Montana but I am originally from South Carolina and now live in Australia. My son and I have always wanted to go to Montana for the fishing. We are planning on a trip there in the last couple of weeks in March. Can anyone tell me what the fishing is like that time of year? I have heard how beautiful the State is and now we have the chance to stop over on our way to South Carolina for a few days or week. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ron

My wife is from Great Falls. We get up there every year or so.
March in Montana is still pretty cold. I'm not all that much of a fisherman, so I can't say when would be the best time to try.

I'm north of Great Falls about 45 min. on a farm. Down in GF all the time. Camaro should be ready to mob this summer if spring seeding doesn't come to quick.

Hi Copo, good to hear from another nearby 3rdGen owner. About to get the Firebird out for the spring. Perhaps we can get together at one of the car shows this summer. Look forward to meeting you.

Welcome to the region! Both places are nice, though Wyoming has more wind...keep lots of rocks in your pockets....and watch out for the jackalopes.

Originally form Montana (Whitehall) but now living in Bellevue, Nebraska.
My son, now active duty Air Force - Jet Engine Mechanic - @ SeymoreJohnson AFB, NC. He took his 85Z28 with him. He tells me he bought a LS to swap in for the 5.0 TPI and eventually put a 5speed in place of the auto.
We joined the forum when he got the Z28 basket case.

Hi CRT, called about that car myself and you had already got it. Have fun with it. Maybe we can get together next summer, get some other 3rd gens and do a run, maybe down around Ennis and Virginia City. Have a Merry Christmas!

Hello Hal. I would definitely be up for that. I always enjoy going to Virginia City. I had an 83 TA in high school that I wish I never sold, so I'm pretty excited about getting this one.

Firebird parts in Montana are slim. Don't know where you are at, but I check Spaulding's Pull & Save website in Spokane. Slim pickings there too right now, but have gotten lots of parts for both our third gens there. Sometimes luck out on Craigslist. Have gotten a perfect dash pad and a Camaro hood I was looking for there.

Welcome the forum! Glad to have another Montanan here. Everyone is willing to share information, good source for parts too.

Re: anybody from Montana out there
Anyone have the Iroc-Z28 horn button? Or potentially a full steering wheel in good condition? And, like everyone else, a dash pad with no cracks. Would also like feedback if you've used a dash cap. In Helena, but will travel or pay shipping for the right parts.

Re: anybody from Montana out there
Check out at A&B Wrecking (Al Rose's). They have a '91 that is pretty complete. Can't remember if the steering wheel has the radio controls or not - don't think so. Dash pad is shot, at least they are making repro's now . Syness's has a white base model Camaro, don't recall the steering wheel. Think it's an 83 or 84. They have a brown one too, may be an '87' not sure, been a while since I've been out there. Parts cars are kinda few and far between around here.

Re: anybody from Montana out there
Yeah, I've been to all the pick-a-parts around here. No luck. Here's a question, my seats are auto and I know 4th gen seats are just bolt in. I found some, but they aren't auto. How hard would it be to put the 4th gen seats onto the third auto brackets? Would I switch just cushions or would I be taking apart seat brackets and frankenstiening them together?
