89 TTA build thread
Well I couldnt find anywhere else to put this. So the car is here in Indiana Ill put it here. Im doing some of the work on this car. But its not mine. Its going to be an awesome build so I wanted to let everyone enjoy it sense hes not a TGO member. Here are a few pics so far. A little background on the car is it was a 58,000 mile mostly original car with some minor bolt-ons and a 12 bolt till recently till the owner decided to tear it down for a major overhaul.
This is the car when I first started. Every bit of the suspension and drive train was out of the car.
This is after I installed the custom Spohn tubular k-member and spohn control arms.
Here it is after I installed the Spohn coilover kit, powder coated stock spindles and caster camber kit.
Here are the Aerospace brakes installed as well.

Re: 89 TTA build thread
And here it is after we installed one of the Weld Magnums to check brake clearance.
I dont know much about the engine/transmission combo yet sense it was built by another turbo buick enthusiast but here are a few pics.
Ill post more build pics as they come. This week Ill be installing the Nasty performance sumped fuel tank, plumb the fuel system and install the rebuilt 12 bolt rear end. More to come soon. Later.

Re: 89 TTA build thread
Too much race for me.
Kinda ruins what the car is best at, doing everything well.
Still it looks nice.
Shoot me some engine specs so I can compare some notes with mine.

Nice...one of the best Fbodies every built.
Sucks he's taking the stock GTA rims off....that completes the look IMO.

Its keeping the GTA wheels. The magnums are just for the track. We dont have any road courses or auto cross stuff around here but we have 4 drag strips within 2-3 hours so..... Here are some new pics. Ill try to dig up some motor specs for you Jeremy.

Re: 89 TTA build thread
As a Buick GN owner... I already have a soft spot for TTA's. I WILL have one at some point. This one is awesomely clean. I know the guy that built the engine. He is top notch. I'm sure the car is going to go as much as it looks like it will go.
Again... my mouth is watering..... good job!

Re: 89 TTA build thread
Someone at GM had to really work hard to make those tanks so difficult to remove and replace.
Good luck. I guess a lift would make things much easier...

Removing and installing a fuel tank on a 3rd gen f-body.... aren't they a GEM...... I'd rather sandpaper the butthole of an alligator in a phone booth!

Putting the tank is shouldnt be too bad with the rear end out and having it up on the lift. We will see though lol.

Re: 89 TTA build thread
Is the car lower that stock height with all the new front end components?
If so, be careful with the Art Carr pan, I have a few "light" scrapes on mine and I'm all stock.

Re: 89 TTA build thread
Got the Nasty Performance fabricated fuel tank today. Had a few setbacks. The engine had a grand national style oil filter mount so I had to transfer the TTA oil filter relocation on there cause the filter was hitting the k-member. We got that all taken care of then tried to mach up the tank and found out that the straps were too short. So we have to figure something out with that. Here are a few pics of the tank.

That is an Awesome build man!! No was is that too much if you ask me. All of the original sheetmetal is untouched and looks very steetable. Looks Great!
BTW any close up or detailed pictures of the coilovers?

Re: 89 TTA build thread
Got the tank installed today. Had to flatten the straps out completely and rebend them to fit the tank. They were too short for the new tank. I fit them to the tank, put foam on the body and the straps and made spacers and installed new bolts. I wired up a new relay and fuel sending unit pigtail and wired up the fuel level sender. Then Lee came over and we worked on locating all the wiring and vacuum lines. That was all for today. Hopefully more to come tomorrow.

Re: 89 TTA build thread
No work on the underside other than normal cleaning. The car only has 58,000 miles and Im sure all its life its lived in a garage. The interior looks like brand new also. Ill get pics of the interior when its off the lift.

Re: 89 TTA build thread
We made some more progress on the TTA yesterday and today. Shane welded up the fuel pump mounting bungs to the tank and mounted the fuel tank. Also ran the -12 line from the tank to the pump.

We also got the QA1 coilovers installed today along with the Spohn torque arm and Dynotech aluminum driveshaft. Then hung the built 3.73 geared 12 bolt with Aerospace brakes and last but not least the Spohn adjustable drag bar.

Re: 89 TTA build thread
Hey fellas. Sorry I haven't made an update in a while. Things got really busy at the shop and the progress was slow going. Sense the last update we have finished the rear brake lines, routed the -10 feed and -8 return fuel line, installed the new externally regulated driver side fuel rail and today the new tires were mounted on the wheels. Ill post pics as soon as possible.
