Anyone Want to start a Thirdgen Club in Northwest Indiana?
Okay so ive had my thirdgen for quite some time now, and i travel all around my area every day. And ive only seen a handful of people with thirdgens. I wanted to try to start a club in my area. We could make places to meet every week or month. The usual, meet and talk about the cars, do some pictures, some burnouts, and things like that. T- shirts, decals,all that stuff. So if anyones up for it,leave a comment and we will make something Happen. Im tired of seeing all these little Import clubs around here, civics and integra's BLECH

Im all for it, plus chicago is not exactly available for me atm, and do you guys ever see the deceptive creations guys? they run grand am/ prix's and my nieghbor is one now, if you start one a little more locally im all for it!

Aww man that sucks! Im one of 2 out here in my town that work! Theres ONE thirdgen at the Mechanics shop down the road by my house (Moser) And its been sitting there for 3 months cause the owner never came to get it! I think its an 86? Its red with a aftermarket sunroof( =/) and i guess the guy said it has a blown head gasket so its not running at the moment. I really want someone to buy it!

Pauls auto salvage owns ALOT of junkyards in NW indiana.
The one you are talking about is in Westville. I am about 15 min from there .
I go there from time to time to check on there 3rd gens.
They have about 8 of them there at any given time.

well i got the 454 from my old suburban so that was cheap.....the total cost so far of the motor alone is pushing 3600 and its not even close to done yet ill expect 5000-6000 by time im done. than the th400 was also from my burban....but 200 for parts to rebuild and for the kit in it. than there is the torque converter.....the crossmember the frame connectors the new cooling system since the old one is not going to keep her cool....the new consle shifter to work with the th400 was 200 bucks the whole new assend will be about three grand ready to bolt in....the stock 10 bolt will in no way hold up...and im sure in forgetting things.

Hey I just purchased my first third gen the other day and I'd love to get together and talk about the options for the vehicle and some suggestions. I'm really excited about my first project car. It currently runs and drives it just needs a little tuning. I'm from Hammond so if any of you guys want to get together and meet up I'm down. Well i bought a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am. The car has virtually no rust or body damage. the interior is good and it runs and drives just fine. It came with an extra 305 motor on an engine stand and I got the whole thing for 300$ total. By options I mean like ideas on what kind of motor I should pick up and what I should do to the motor. I just want to get other peoples opinions on it.

If i could go back in time...well wait. First of all,is your engine a throttle body or a tune port?( TBI or TPI) Secondly, if i could go back,since i have a 305 TBI, id swap that out for a 350 TPI. make my own custom K&N filter system. And things like that
For the money,you cant go wrong with (Performance wise) a bigger cam,a new air system,updating some gaskets, and getting your heads clean. Getting your heads clean is the BEST thing in my opinion to do to your car for the money. Makes your car run like brand new. Also,a new exhaust system is always great. a catback is a good choice. And maybe some newer american racing rims. ANd hey if you want to do things to the interior,go to a junkyard and swap the interior from a 4th gen trans am into your car, SUch as the console,dash and seats. ANd i added a aftermarket stereo system into mine and made my own subwoofer box. Good luck and welcome to the thirdgen world!

if you wanna do a motor swap the world is yours...im doing a 454 swap right now i would thing twice about that because it is expensive.....but a mild built 350 does wounders for this car....if you are thinking of going bigger than a 305 or a mild 350 def look into frame connectors...the unibody is the one major weakness to these cars.....they twist with power...i have a set installed on mine but then again im going 454...whats the other 305 look like is it rebuilt how many miles do you know? I dont like the 305 because you can sink alot of money into them and only get what a mild 350 will give....so i would just sell the other motor and look to a 350.....easiest swap you can do. 82 it might be carb but im not sure due to it being a T/A...mines an 83 bird it was a carb 305 originaly and soon it will be a BIG BLOCK beast

The motor I have now is a TBI but I plan on doing some motor swapping. I'll keep you guys updated through the Spring.

those ppl are jokes. tried asking me to join and ride along with all the other ppl that "joined." they ask everyone to join. they dnt even have any nice cars. unless u like 300c's with rolls royce grills. or u can take the hubcaps off a civic to black it out.
