There will always be a quest for more power. I was just looking at a new ZL1 Camaro and see our great government has a $2600 gas guzzler tax on a $60,000 car. So far anyway, the govt. has seen fit to tax us on our car yet.

Hmmmm, now how much does it cost out the door?
Second, was it a production example representative of what you or I would get buying it off the lot.
Guess I'll be working out a turbo setup sooner rather than later now

Personally, if I had a garage to practice fab skills I'd consider building a Vortec i5 3700 turbo. 3.7L Straight 5, with an appropriately sized turbo should deliver 350-400whp and near 500lb/ft no problem.
I love the power band on my Focus ST. HP is nearly flat from 4700-6000rpm, but there is a huge swell of torque as low as 2000rpm when on boost, and boost response above 2000rpm is instantaneous. Below 2000rpm response is sluggish, but with the way the car is geared you are never below 2000rpm unless you put the engine there on purpose.
A larger displacement engine should have much more apparent torque at 1500rpm than the ST's little 2.0L inline 4.

While I am impressed a lil that a factory car turned a 10.8 ive seen several true street cars do this at a fraction of the 60k price tag this thing costs. Now I do understand most of these street cars don't have air conditioning or some of the other luxuries the Hellcat does. My friends old 89 RS with its 383 supercharged engine would send that Hellcat home with its feelings hurt and he can drive the camaro home with the a/c blowing. Maybe 1/4 of the price tag. Poor folks cant buy a Hellcat or a Z06. But we can mod a car to our liking.

I do acknowledge that you can do it much cheaper with a modded car.

10.8s with a drag radial tire. ZO6 does the same with stock tires.
Any car can be beat on any given day.
I'm a Pontiac guy but I'm also a cool car guy an d I'd own a hellcat b4 the camaro.

The main reason this car is so amazing from the big 3 manufactures is that the numbers it had are amazing especially from its curb weight in previous years the challenger and charger were always at the back of the pack now they are in front yes more power had to be added but there is so much technology in the engine..wait for the hellcat charger fastest sedan on earth

This is a $60,000 car in the same ball park as the Shelby Mustangs and Camaro ZL1 stuff. I rarely see those cars. Most people with that money want something much more flashy- Corvette, Viper, Porsche, Masseratti stuff.
Other than a car show I have seen a ZL1 once, a shelby twice, a Challenger SRT less than a dozen. The real "danger" cars are as they always have been, regular guys like us who know what they are doing to cars they enjoy. For every Hellcat you see at a car show you will find a dozen cars just as fast or faster. A procharged 400 sbc can easily be that fast.

That car is modded whether it be by dodge, the owner or a private shop. That said, you dont need to tear into them too hard to get those results at sea level(up here in denver 5300ft alt. is a different story), pulley and tune is what i'll bet on, they didnt mess with the exhaust in order to leave the factory appearance and sound intact to make it seem even more impressive in stock trim.

But, but, but at the end of the day its still a Dodge, that's hard to swallow.
Although I am almost impressed at what you get for the price, almost.
Who has enough $$$$ to lay down in cars like this?
Why can't we get something RWD w/ a V8 and affordable? Hello GM we are talking to you?
I would love to see a modern day G-body about the same size as the old, that would be awesome.

Re: Dodge Hellcat runs 10.8 @ 126mph, who wants to give up modding?
I'm not getting rid of my Thirdgen any time soon. I've had my Hellcat on order since mid-Feb. Base price for one of these with a 6 speed manual is between 59-60K….then add on guzzler tax and options, delivery costs, tax and you're close to 70K out the door….not cheap, but for what you get I think it's a bargain compared to some other cars out there.
You can see Hellcat vs whatever all over Utube. Most of the time it's a driver's race. Some wins, some losses…that's how it goes. Getting the Hellcats to actually hook off the line with street tires takes some finesse to keep from spinning. The tests I've seen is somewhere in the 11's on street tires. Add DR's or even better slicks…and you're in 10 second territory. Not too shabby for a 4200+ pound car.
