It's an optical illusion

Nice red light(s)

Look at all that rubber on the rear fenders. Time to install some mud flaps.

Chassis flex. Do you have a rear anti roll bar yet? That will help.

it's already been stated how to take care of that. at a 1.63 60' it's not the chassis

alright steve, lol! i'm trimming the sway bar endlink and getting some new bolts. i'm gonna cut it in 1/2" increments so i could add them or take them out to add more preload. im just trying to figure out if i NEED to do a roll bar or not right now. i'm thinking i'm gonna add one anyway this winter cause my girl is concerned for my safety...and it WILL go faster one day, you know?

haha, since when do you care what the car looks like, lol! that was off the transbrake, which i normally foot brake my car and i still can't "find the tree" with the 'brake. it was just a track rental day, no competition. my reaction times were all over the place. when i was trying to nail a light, they were in the .01x-.02x range.

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

damn little 305 yanked a wheel before i did.. at the starting line at least.. lol i felt one on a second gear shift during the summer though.. came down hard a split second after the clutch came out..

that looks like all suspension.. the bumper is tilted to the passenger side.. if it was chassis, the bumper would be parallel to the ground..

OR it could be a little of both......... just put a cage in it and see.. well congrats anyway..

should only need 1/2" total at the most. I just bought a 1/2" shorter poly endlink between a friend and me, we bought the stock length and the shorter ones and each took one out of each package. Worked out great.

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

I dont know what they are worth, hell, 20 bucks, and they are yours, before the anti roll bar it used to take 3 to 5 psi in the right air bag, and very little in the left, so really you could just put the right in, might be better on the street then a pre loaded sway bar

I do agree with your dad though, roll bar or cage or something soon. You are still going pretty fast in a car sized bowling alley with bumpers up, so if something happens it would be better to have something in the car, and with slicks if it gets sideways it act different then street tires or drag radials, I dont want to sound like a party pooper, but I also dont like seing people hurt

On a better note Jack seemed like he was having a great time, and I said something about it being better then street racing, he thought a second and said well lets think why street racing is stupid.... I was thinkin ok he will be ok- and doing his racing at the track! I was happy to see he wasnt just thrilled with speed and still seeing the stupidity of street racing, so when you see him give him a pat on the back.

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

that sounds good to me brother. is this something that could easily be installed in the pits at the GaFBA shootout? if so, bring 'em then and i'll get you some cash.

i've been thinking about the roll bar/cage thing for a while now. i think that with my budget, i'm just gonna get one of those mild steel 8pt bars from competition eng. for now. i just don't have the money to do it the "right" way and am going fast enough now that i probably could use it in the car. i'll just put a cap on the car, no faster than 10.00, and honestly, i don't know that i care to spend the money on this thing to go 8's anytime soon, even after college.

jack had a blast. i'll give him a pat on the back for you. you're right, his attitude is pretty excellent about it.

bah, that's just a photoshop

Are you trying to pull the fronts more? What shocks/springs do you have? ie are you trying to set the car up to LIFT the front for show, or do you just want to get down the 1320 fastest?

Just need to MSpaint "305CID" onto that picture and it's a good sig pic

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

honestly, i'd like to do both. i know that when the stocker guys stuff is working correctly, they have the most efficient packages on the planet (11.4's at like 114mph and stuff) and they ****** the fronts pretty hard. i'm gonna start messing with lca angles too. i've got the lca's in the bottom hole right now, i wanna try it with them in the middle hole to see what it does for me. i know that on the top hole they'll be too far up as my car is lowered alot. we'll see. i'm gonna have my dad out there taking sequence pics again so we can see just what the car is doing. here's the full sequence from that launch:

you can see just how low my car is here in this pic:

i'm running the middle hole, on a perfect launch you want the LCA angle to be zero and directly in line with the chassis.

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

yup easy , just bring a pair of jackstands and the socket to take the shocks loose. Hopefully i will get them out by then lol, shouldnt be a problem, I would just put one in yours and save the other for jacks car when it needs it. having the lca in the lower hole will exaggerate the roll on launch by the way. also 10.99 needs a cage now, but a roll bar would be better than what you have now. using that number, you could build a decent 355 run 11.0X have a good time and be consistant, and be able to pull the front wheels pretty nicely...kinda like the z was doing last spring, it ran 11.0 all day on engine
Going fast seems to cost exponentially more after the 10's anyway
(of course i need to mention it is an awesome rush going low 9's, but short times in the mid 1.2's ..man you gotta do it some time)

that sucks. i'm wanting to know more how the rearend acts. is there tons of body seperation? you and i are running the same torque arm so i'm wondering if the rear body seperation i have is more do to the torque arm or the lca's being in the bottom hole. is your TA adjustable? mine is not...

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

mine is adjustable, I do get some body separation, but yours on the drivers side is because someone didn't run the single air bag and shortened link like I told them to In a perfect world I have seen most 1.3 60' times and lower cut by people who have just a small amount of separation and it just goes. No huge wheelstand like carfixer has going for them, just a nice 18" up or so and then forward. Try out the middle hole and let me know what you think. Run some pressure in the pass air bag and I think it'll go faster, less wasted movement up instead of forward. At least separation is FAR FAR better than squatting.

Good job, anti roll bar is the only way to go. Installing the air bag will give you the mental "I'm helping the cause" but after seeing pictures of my car with the air bag and pictures with the anti roll bar...your still going to get body roll unfortunately.

just like the bias ply vs radial debate, i am right and you will see if you listen young skywalker

Seriously though, better than nothing...in this case, unfortunately not, it wont do much, seriously, been there dun dat, but for $20, what the heck, you blow that much on stupider things like any guy with a car habit LOL!! Sell the other bag for $20 so basically all your losing is the isntallation time and not money on the deal

but Josh I like my air bag Car looks even to everyone who sees it launched when coupled with the different endlink lenghts, do suppose I "may" put in an anti-roll bar this coming winter since you speak so strongly about it and I'd rather not spend the money two times like most people. Good thing I got my air bags and endlinks for $30 total investment. Now that's not even one night of cruising this car

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

I tried an airbag on my car years ago and it did little to nothing. The car would lift the lf about 8" and the rf was still on the ground no matter how much air I put in it. This was with no rear sway bar on the car either though. With a stock bar and an airbag it should be more effective, especially with the short link like xpndbl3 mentioned.

As for seperation on launch. My car has very little or no noticeable seperation.

RTking is dead on with a zero. Bag alone, you will fix little to nothing. Preloading a stock rear sway bar (i did this also) will help, but still not come close to launching a car flat like a prupose buuilt, overkill drag racing anti roll bar.

Steve...you'll see

Uh huh...like i said...you'll see

Alot of the turbo/SC cars that come to our track leave really soft though, and once you get your "final tune" i'm sure you will probably end up in the same boat, great big convertor so it hits sooner since you'll have plenty of go baby go under your right foot, and you'll most likely be stepping down to a 3 series gear ratio so you dont run out of engine before the finish line...all which will lead to launching a little softer than you'd realistically think it should until the "turbo boost" knight rider baby LOL, kicks in, then your gonna feel like your driving a missile since it wont want to stop accelerating the entire track....big big difference between that set up and a bracket set up

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

Easiest fix is to put an air bag in the right rear with 30 psi in it. One question I have for you is the separation between the top of the tire and the wheel opening that big normally?

Just as an fyi Mw, first outing this year netted some pretty good times. Took a bunch of weight out and moved up to H/SA. Right off the trailer was an 11.10 @ 117.38 mph followed by an 11.06 @ 117.97 both with 1.43 60's. Hoping to get into the tens with a few other changes I have planned, want to try my hand at JR/STK at this falls Dutch Classic at Maple Grove. Hopefully things work out as planned.

Re: FINALLY, a quality picture of me pullin' the front tire off the ground!

hey what do you mean big wheelys....wheely bars are for sissys (or is that sissies ?) And i am pretty sure I will have that on the back of the car for pinks all out too lol. I have the limiters redone now so i dont get it near as high, and I will be shooting for 1.1X 60 foots on the 20th.
I do have one of those big over kill drag race anti roll bars, and almost no rear suspension movement , either N/A with no limiters or on the bottle cutting 1.25 60 foots and those would have been lower if the engine was running right, hopefully that is fixed. Going to do some testing when it isnt raining
